Yeah, I'm one of those bitter ex-Netflix users...please disregard this post and Netflix away!

Why not? If I had a PS3 I would be all over this.

As it is I'm not buying XBL Gold to get to pay for Netflix as well

edit: my assumption is that you have something against streaming/downloading Netflix movies - why?

i hope they let you browse for movies instead of just playing the ones in your queue. i really hate that part.

The part about needing a movie in your instant watching queue is incorrect. You can freely browse the entire library by new arrivals or genre and play a movie without having to place it in your queue first. Even the official docs gives the impression that you need the movies in your instant queue first, but it's not true at all.

As you browse the movies, you can instantly tell if the movie will stream in 720p HD or 480p quality by the icons at the bottom (Does the 360 version allow Netflix HD streaming? Wikipedia says it doesn't). Some of the newer movies didn't have 720p available, but some of the older movies did. Scrolling through all the movies is slow at first until you realize you can use the L2 and R2 button to scroll one full screen at a time. You can rate movies and read movie descriptions before you start playing.

Movies started up very quickly, but of course YMMV depending on your connection. Skipping to different parts of a movie is just like on the computer version (and probably the 360 version too), with thumbnails to help you find the part of the movie you're looking for. Everything I said was probably exactly like the 360 version (except the part about needing it in your queue first) so I'll stop here. All in all, I'm quite pleased as I don't have Gold for my 360 and probably never will.

Something against streaming? No, other than the degraded quality and occasional intarweb hiccups I have nothing against streaming. It's NETFLIX that I'll never use again until Satan is wearing ear muffs and a fur coat. There are other ways to get movies you know..

yea, forgot they changed it to where you don't need the movies in the queue. They recently changed that in an update.

Xbox also streams HD.

Hrmmm. What do you have against Netflix? I've never had the opportunity to use the service, but it seems pretty neat to me (be it streaming or their mail service).

I like netflix on the 360 better than the ps3. Ps3's netflix interface isn't as smooth as the 360's. I also hate how you have to put the netflix cd in the console in order to watch.

You guys must be really young...anyway:

Not a part of the lawsuit but I was throttled even though my use was nowhere near as heavy as others. http://homevideo.about.com/od/netfli...AtNetflixa.htm

Also this: http://www.aboutlawsuits.com/netflix...-pricing-2647/

There is also an ongoing, very long thread at avsforums about issues with Netflix and Blu-ray rentals http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=969946

Awesome news, only downside is the stupid netflix disc you have to have in the drive to watch.

Interesting about the wait times, but since I hadn't used netflix in about a year I could see it happening. I know back in the day I was a huge netflix user, I would go through roughly 30 movies a month and never seemed to get "throttled" but I had heard of others talk about it. The only time I really ran into long waits is when I would pick some obscure movie which I figured they probably only had a few copies of anyways. One thing I did notice that sucks is there are some movies that I remember getting on DVD a few years ago that Netflix doesn't have anymore. Like The Wicked City live action movie (horrible, but I went through a bad movie phase for a while) kind of sucks as I was in the mood to rewatch it , also Ricky-O they don't seem to carry anymore. I'm assuming its because the discs probably got lost, or damaged and they aren't in print anymore.

On the PS3 streaming side, I got my disc and used it quite a bit this weekend, the quality is great, I haven't done direct comparisons on the same tv and same movie as the 360, but it seems about the same. Titles load up quickly even over my wifi, and the title images when selecting a movie load up fairly quick as well. Having to use the disc does stink a little, but I understand their reasoning, glad they found a workaround for the exclusivity deal with 360. I'm a huge streaming nut, so anything that adds more streaming the better, and at least its easy to use and of course my number 1 priority quick to use

my beef with netflicks is how they immediately cut off your service if you cancel your subscription, even if you paid that day. Its just a slimey way to get people to stay subscribed and miss canceling it before they charge you again = /
