controller for pc?

i'm looking for the best cheapest option for a pc gamepad...

should i go the xbox 360 controller route? or should i get one from logitech or what?

if i get a xbox 360 controller do i need to get a special one that works with pc or has an adapter? should i get a wireless or wired? is there a difference in response time?

I grabbed a madcatz xbox360 controller, installed the microsoft program-dealie and it worked great. This was a while ago, though.

Microsoft sells a 360 controller/wireless thingamabob combo for PCs. I got the wireless adapter from a nearby used game store for $10, because I already had the controller

If you get the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows You can use any 360 wireless controller and the wireless headset. (if you get the LifeChat ZX-6000 headset it comes with a black receiver) If you have a wired 360 controller just plug it in.
