Read a funny little quip recently about how some peoples benchpresses are actually their spotter doing bent over rows and they bench presser is spotting for them. I have been lifting long enough to know about what I am able to lift, if the spotter is helping me for more than one rep, maybe two on the last set, then I have put too much on.
Being honest to yourself about your limitations is sort of important. Protip- if the spotter is helping you, you are not doing a PB.
