If it still has the stock CT26, you should swap it out with one from a 7m supra. You'll have to clock it a bit but it works. I gave up on my 3sgte, it was such a pain in the ass.

Baloneyflaps, WTF are you talking about CA is the place to be. CARB or not.

You could always take a loan out to do a motor swap.

Nah relax dudes. I literally took the car to a churched up muffler shop. The guy told me just a while ago that it is out of his scope.

Next stop is an mr2 specialist. There I will find an answer, positive or otherwise. The motor turns over and isnt "stuck" or "fucked" necessarily but even if it were I have a second motor lined up.

Say RIP MR2 when im jobless and wrap the car around a telephone pole and get a dole bus pass.

So, what are the symptoms? Rod knock? Just doesn't start?

Basically just doesn't start. Burned out the first new replacement starter.

He says its a wiring issue, but also said that there was gas in the oil, but this other shop will get to the bottom of it no problem. Just handling the logistics of getting the car towed while holding a 9-5 job is going to be tricky. AAA is gay as fuck and won't tow unless I'm there in person

He says its a wiring issue.

I have an awfully difficult time believing that a "wiring issue" caused a failure of the starter. In all my years of owning MR2s, not once, ever, did I hear of a failed starter. Even in cases where I knew the starter had been immersed in flood water. Give it a few days, and it worked again.

Now, a weak ground causing the starter to just not work well enough to start the engine, that I could believe. Once the battery was weak enough, this would look like a failure of the starter to the untrained eye.

Check all your ground cables against the shop manual, and clean the battery terminals. Especially in the case of a sloppily done engine swap, it's possible that either one of the grounds is just missing, has come loose, or is connected in the wrong place.

I bet I could get it running for under $20 if I had it in front of me; these things don't just quit working unless something just came loose.

he did try running power directly to the starter

and yeah I saw a little write up about building your own grounding kit, I will definitely do that as soon as I get it back.
