Of course. Although new people have 0 posting reputation, and they get beat down on. They either have the choice to weather the storm of insulting replies and most of their posts getting ignored, or they can just go to another forum which is more accommodating, or one that is anonymous.

I think the goals of this forum are based around negativity, which hampers any growth it could possibly have. Take the name, avatar and title rape for example. A lot of people probably came into the forums, made a fool of themselves with an initial stupid post, got goatse for their avatar and then just left in fear. Basically, when you join [M], you have to expect to have your identity ripped away, and replaced by what [M] wants. It isn't the most inviting way to run a forum.

yeah, but calling it a cent makes it seem like less than if you called it a point.

First thing that should be done: TURN OFF the 30 day no thread limit for new members. 30 days is rediculous. 10 days would be sufficient.

At the end of the day you guys will realize that what is needed is constant updates to our gene pool, and since we do not agree on who to add- the best thing to do is to add a lot of new people.

Isn't this the case with any large forum? We respect individuality, as we also reserve the right to insult that individuality. Any large forum you go to will say the same thing: "Read before you post." If you're looking for a small group of people who will welcome you with open e-arms like some Introverts Anonymous meeting, I'm sure you can find a 10-person forum out there in the ether. GenMay has a personality. If you don't like that personality, be the one who starts the change.

[M] does not care for your problems. If you feed Mother [M]ayhem her drama, she will take care of you. I think the problem that I am inferring through your posts is that you don't feel as if the forum collective has done enough to thank the individual poster for his/her/its contribution. If you're looking for internet gratification, I would try porn.

I really don't think that genmay should have any limitations on threads, the sub forums yes, but genmay no.

free welcoming kit to new members

Send a letter to their house (people like free stuff) welcoming them, include a little info, tell them to post, call them a ...and then follow up the next day with a load of free boxes. Seriously that would make an impression.
