I was once sorta dating a girl that said I had soft hands and she liked them rough. I apologized for not being a manual laborer. Now my current GF says my hands are to rough... I have pretty big calluses at the base of my middle and ring finger on both of my hands from weight lifting, I wear gloves so dunno why I get them.
You are attempting to create class distinction and impress that class distinction on womens preference based on hands.

The preference as explained to me is that they prefer men who can do things with their hands- this does imply that they earn their living lifting rocks. The most defined forearms I have seen on someone in real life were on a vetinary surgeon.

You will find that capable hands on someone in a non-manual labour job are a much more desireable trait than soft girly hands attached to limp wrists. Sure as fuck works for me.

Capable and rough are not the same. Strong powerful hands with a grip of steel is a different matter. I personally see no reason to have rough hands, thats not to say I have the hands of a woman that are constantly moisturized, but they are certainly not one big callus.

Women's preference on hand type in my experience is based on class to a certain extent, which is why I provided my example. These are just my experiences and how there was a correlation of hand preference to class.

The girl I was seeing was a bit of a redneck and all her previous boyfriends were manual labor types, with rough hands which in contrast to mine I had soft ones. She preferred the rough. The current one is a math ed major at my university and she thinks my hands are to rough sometimes, probably because of her interactions with a different class of people throughout her life, most of them having softer hands due to not engaging in manual labor that often.

As with everything in life your experiences will form your own opinions on what is preferable. I am certain that many a woman has been lost from their displeasure of having gnarled callused hands on them while I am equally certain as per vin's example many have been won..

Happy with that and glad we could have a civilised discussion on the matter. A good day to you sir.

Likewise

Back on topic, if you decide you do want to go the glove route, I would advise you go to your local sporting goods store and try on every pair there. Buy whatever fits you well and feels good. The glove should be fairly tight, but not so much as to be uncomfortable. I personally use these as they were the best my store had to offer for me. Price really shouldent be a concern as you will put a couple hundred hours on these gloves and you want what feels good. I would also stay away from gloves that wrap around the wrist, thats a personal preference as I feel it affects my lifts, however some love the wrap around the wrist type.

Using weightlifting gloves impedes upon building grip strength. I don't use them, and I'm just giving you something to think about.

I got a question about gloves. How do you wash them? Because mine fucking reek right now, they still feel kinda damp even though I lifted a day or two ago. So, cleaning advice?

Why would that be? It doesn't seem right, you still have to grip the bar just as tight.

Because the gloves help you hang on to the bar better than just your hands.

I don't use weights and have calusses, but the woman likes them so win/win. Plus like somebody else posted, gloves can get in the way with certain exercises so I'd rather not use them.

I'd imagine throwing them in the washed would suffice?

I've always found the opposite...I can't hold onto the bar worth crap wearing gloves.

A lot of gloves say not to throw them in the machine. I know mine do. Mine actually say not to hand wash them or anything, so I'm not sure what I'll do if they ever really stink. I read about people putting them in the freezer overnight once, not sure if that actually works, but they claim it does.
