No power drill... how to install this curtain rod?

I have one simple curtain rod to install. It's asking me to drill screw holes to secure the brackets onto which the rod sits on. I don't own a power drill, none of my roommates do either. There's no way I'm buying a $100 - $200 power drill just to install a cheapo curtain for my bedroom window I ordered off Amazon.

Can I just hammer some nails in? It's dry wall, so I don't know if that would work. How would a screw even work in that case? The drywall is pretty thin/weak.

for now I've ghetto rigged the curtain by duct-taping it to the top of the window sill, but obviously this isn't a feasible fix... how do I go about obtaining a fancy power drill (or any other way to drill a 1/8" screw hole?) and will it work for drywall?

What kind of man doesn't own a drill. Go to Wal-Mart and buy one for $30.

Have never needed one until today, am not spending $30 for curtains that cost just as much just to drill in 4 screw holes. Also, I have no space to store it. Just another piece of clutter that'll sit in my closet or living room and collect dust (i live in a 4 bedroom flat apartment, so space is limited and I move frequently, so the less things I own the better)

next question... what to do about the dry wall? I can't imagine a screw would even be able to be drilled in there securely...

Drywall anchor. Does not require drill. There are tons of styles, just buy whatever one you like the looks of. I suggest the plastic ones. Basically, you mark the hole, punch it out with the screwdriver, shove the anchor in the hole, and when you put in the screw - it will expand the anchor in the hole and it will hold tight.

He doesn't want to spend $100 on a drill and you tell him to spend $50 on a contractor to do five minutes of work?

While the op certainly does seem like an incompetent woman with no hope for survival, hiring a contractor to hang a shower rod is dumber.

I just can't imagine that there isn't anybody who can lend you such a power drill. I mean how the heck could you guys survive untill today. Just get one. It's always worth investing and it impresses girls.
