I actually was just going to say that the strut mount coupled with some rusty bits on top meant at one point they were sitting in standing water for a long time.

Run away.

323 was horrible
New ones feel awesome and are great on the inside

323 was kick-ass in this trim:

Oh, and wtf is up with the top of the strut towers? One is rusted and the other isn't. I've never seen that happen before

strut mount was attached at some point. May have been dissimilar metals, I think that accelerates rusting.

I had an 06 Mazda 6 v6. it was alright, premium sound system was ok(esp after the bass mod) But I never loved the car. The interior felt cheap. Pickup was ok, cornering was ok, ride was harsh on 18's. Built in gps sucked and there are no updates for that year. Tires were expensive. Other than that maintenance was nothing big. Gas was ok but not great.

I drove a 2.0 mazda 3 for a month(rental) Interior was crappy plastic. Handling was better, gas was better, car wasen't that much smaller on the inside. Storage space went to hell, rear seats... well my passengers were nice about it.

Prior to the Mazda I had a Chrysler 300m. Even though every hates Chrysler i freaking loved that car. Damn near considering getting another. I got 30mpg+ on the highway, Nicer interior, better pickup/hp, more storage, cheaper parts and luxury features all around. Suspension was great, handling wasn't the best but damn I loved that car.

Currently driving a base model 2001 corolla . I hate this car. Need to get something for the wife soon. Probably a cheap DD Civic or accord. need a sedan for the baby. Next year I'll be looking into something better. Either i'll go stupid and get another 300m or something along the same line. I care more about comfort and space now-a-days.

'05 should be fine.

Should also note that some of them the trip computer can still be activated. My 07 Speed3s doesn't come with it from the factory but you can turn it on with the right button combination.

Mazda 3s hatch ftw. I have a 2007 and it's been lovely for the 55k miles I've owned it. You can indeed unlock the gas mileage computer if you don't get the GT trim. My roommate has a brand new 2012 Mazda6i and it reminds me more of my old '97 Dodge Intrepid than a modern sedan.

"Ford continues to use the Mazda's G-series platform for the basis of a number of its CD3 platform coded vehicles, including the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ, Lincoln MKX"

on the other hand the mazda3 is a Focus.

Cross shop it with those other cars, whichever you want. May be cheaper since the Mazda badged ones are very popular.

That's a pretty big wing. Still only about half the size of the one on my XR4, but I guess they were completely functional.

Right it adds about 2 lbs of downforce.

Or about whatever it weighs.

That's 2006-2008 models, at least for Canadian models, but you're absolutely right.

This is all for the first generation of both cars, not the newer ones (the ugly ones.)

Having driven a speed 6, and a V6 6, and a 3s, I really wasn't into the 3s. Clutch was utterly numb, handling wasn't wild (frankly MS3 is the fun one, the rest aren't wildly different).

The 6 is a great car, better for a daily driver IMO. Better interior, better NVH, good performance. I would never buy a MS3, because I'd rather have an MS6. Go drive a Fusion as well, very similar to the 6 chassis wise.
