does look like it's ABS plastic
this plastic sludge, basically the acetone melts it, then evaporates and leaves it intact?

plastic welders pretty much suck, they're ok for fixing cracks in bumpers, but something like this, I would just use a good 2-part plastic repair epoxy and some metal screen, and fill in the area you need to fill.

really? really?
you thought that your previous post was help? and if it wasn't help, what the fuck was it for?
best check yourself, 'fore you wreck yourself

Kahnza, you aren't helpful either

Oh, stop whining, you know what this place is like.

That said, I fixed my new dremel flex-shaft knockoff, where the shaft goes to the motor, the collar was split right where the inner sleeve went into the collar, so I did a bit of "field-reformation" of the outer spring and the inner sleeve to help lock it all together, then used the torch tip on my weller portasol to basically weld it together. Looks like shit, worked well, especially since I got the plastic to melt into the metal parts, then solidify. You will lose volume this way, tho, unless you can work it like either gas welding or TIG welding.

If you're gonna repaint it, tho, I'd just epoxy and file/sand to shape.

i would assume that it is, almost everything in my truck is ABS plastic, and from what i remember, most of the parts in your year model have the same feel, and break the same way
