My Element:

Likes:
- fits tons of stuff (we recently bought a used, assembled elliptical and got it home no problem)
- good seating position
- plastic floor so its easy to clean (I.e. all my shit is no longer covered in dog hair)
- really short and good turning radius - I can fit into tiny parking spots and flip a bitch on a normal 2 way street without backing up
- its Orange. I friggin love the color

Dislikes
- sloooow. Could really use some more power and an auto with more gears
- bad mpg in city (17-18)
- its a big box so it really catches the cross winds on open roads. It's annoying to have to fight the steering wheel on long trips
- its loud inside. That's to be expected with the large open space and all hard surfaces, but It's still an issue.

17-18 around NY is nothing to sneeze at.
That sounds really good to me, as you rarely get up to a decent speed, for more then a few blocks.
My Bullitt even around here in Philly suburbs, granted it's V8, has gotten down to 14 in town while mixed will be 18-22 (depending on mow much highway). Taurus is the same way. I have seen 15 in it before when around town.

That's true. I knew you didn't look at actual road maps though; like the ones printed on paper.

- comfy grand tourer for long trips. i can see myself keeping this in the stable as my DD this for a long time

what are these silly non essential parts? I'm pretty set on picking one of these up soon-ish.

Up here, Canadian Tire and the CAA office both sell mapbooks. My dad keeps one around their house just in case the GPS conks out on road trips.

I meant to say he takes it with him on road trips. He apparently has just bought himself a fancier new Garmin of some sort though rather than updating the maps on his old one for $99 or something.

Forester:

+Power, I've surprised a few WRX's and it's always fun to toy with ricers
+AWD, no LSD in the front but I still can't get it stuck in snow/mud and I've tried.
+Looks, with the scoop it still is pretty aggressive for a lesboSUV

-Rattles, all the fucking time
-Noise, see rattles plus there is this drone between 30-40mph I can't figure out & fuck frameless windows.
-Paint, ya soft isn't the word, more like improved nail polish.

You don't state what you drive...
but something with offroad capability and tires aggressive enough for loudness, 20mpg is nothing to sneaze at. That sounds great.
