33% mix; gives me about 95 Octane. In regards to downpipes - I am not planning installing one, at least not any time soon. It's too much of a pain in the ass; no I take it back - it's a fucking nightmare if you've never done it before and have no one to assist you.... furthermore - it won't pass smog when it's due and I just don't want to fuck with it.

A FMIC/TMIC upgrade will net another 10 horsies with current tune and perhaps a retune would squeeze some more and very close if not past 300 HP. But honestly - I wouldn't want to push it that much because then it becomes a straight-line car and not a fun-all-around car.

thats pretty damn good compared to the 3 series i usually drive. With 250 horsepower those cars can do some serious damage. I can only imagine how Mazda handle the torque steer off that thing.

That's really cool.

Is it as fun to drive as I'm imagining my regular 2011 3 would be if it had 280 WHP?

Cam-driven fuel pump?

You've got a mechanical high-pressure fuel pump?

The last mechanical fuel pump I had only put out 7PSI.

It's a direct-injected engine.

This.

Since it is a direct injection block, it requires a feeder pump and a pressurizing pump. Unfortunately the latter falls on its face if you up the boost thus why the internals must be changed.

In regards to torque-steer - while there is some, it's pretty well handled and is not that bad. And whether it's fun to drive - FUCK YES.

Oh, so it's like a diesel injection pump.

What more can you expect?
Not sure. GM claims their 270HP boosted Ecotec can do 295 ft-lbs at 2400RPM and that's peak torque. He doesn't hit peak torque until 4000 RPM and the torque curve isn't very flat.

His powerband is pretty damned broad. My turbo car (with more displacement and more turbos) doesn't get to full steam until about 4500RPM or so.

In fact, that motor would do better with a larger turbo.

That's what happens when you mod a turbo car without changing the pump. Turning up the boost pressure moves the torque peak to the right, every time.

Peak boost is a shade over 20 psi and happens at about 3500 rpm or so.
