1971 Boss Mustang apparently did 13.6 in the 1/4 mile
1987 Mustang GT apparently did 14.2 in the 1/4 mile

I am wondering why no Lambos? There were at least two Aventadors in the neighborhood when they shot this. Or even the countless LP670's around here.

That airstrip is only so wide.

Seriously though, they could have dumped the lotus for a Lambo offering. The lack of the ZR1 is kind of odd as well, I guess we'll just have to go by the official numbers to guess at where it would have fit in with the group.

Doubt a ZR1 would've done much better, it's traction limited in a straight drag race everywhere except on a glued strip.
They could've used a Porsche 911 Turbo S or GT2 (RS even) as well but didn't also because of availability probably. Fifth gear unscientifically raced a new turbo S against a new GT-R and the porker won.

There were 1 or 2 cars there that didn't really belong there probably just to make the grid look bigger.

This wasn't just a drag race event. This was an Ultimiate driver's car competition which pit several cars around a track, the drag race was the last event and done only for the hell of it!

Because it makes like a thousand lb-ft of torque at idle, on account of the truck motor.

Gotta wring the power out at high RPMs on all those other high-HP RWD cars.

Big fat tires and AWD help, too.

You're thinking of the Mustang, but apparenlty Ford has found a way to make the live axel a decent handler now.

No, it's the Corvette too because it has "leaf springs"
