What's wrong with it? I can't think of anything to complain about with the one in my 2011 3.

I just have the base model one, though, not the Bose BS.

Until you drive a car with a single, sun-bleached speaker and an AM-only radio, I think you've got no perspective adequate to assess the issue.

Fuck the radio, you've got a L24. I could listen to that thing all day.

Speakers are your priority; round ebats oval every time due to cone strength - less distortion at all volume levels, as well as less cone mass for the same stiffness since round is stronger. Highs are very directional so this is why you need separate tweeters, on axis, with line of sight to your ears. Mids can live happily in the door panels, as long as it isn't too far away from the tweeter. Too far away would be half the wavelength at the crossover point, but ignore that and just go for it. I promise it will work.

You offer some good points throughout this thread, but I feel this statement to be dead wrong. Amp selection is at least as important as speakers and you should never skimp in assuring that your amp is matched or suitable to the speakers you intend to use. Many people get some decent 100wRMS speakers (Infinity Kappa Perfects for reference) and then pickup an eBay special Pyle or Power Acoustics amplifier that can't squeeze out more than 50wRMS per channel. This is bad because as soon as they crest the input of 50wRMS into their speakers they will meet clipping. Not only does this sound like shit, but it is hard on speakers and can overheat (and eventually damage) your amplifier's MOSFET's. A good rule of thumb is to know that you can never have too much amp, only too much speaker. Proper research into your component selections can narrow your options down to a well matched group without breaking the bank.

Uh, if you appropriately set the gain, you won't clip, regardless of the watts output.

What?

Of course you can have too much amp. For example if it can put out more than your speakers can handle.... That's called a waste.

I'm not sure what your point is, or what you think is wrong of what i said.

Yes, but a majority of people do not know what clipping is or the affects it can have on the system. Too much amp is still better than too little -- I even fucking said the best arrangement is to match/balance everything.

Nothing Pioneer makes is worth the money they charge for it. It's cheap crap. They were once a reputable car audio brand... quality control has gone downhill.

you guys are opening up a big can of worms with all your statements, not that it matters 'cause Lurker isn't going to keep the car/stereo system for very long

We went from sound quality to clipping.

Cool story bro.
