brand new ibm laptop problem

Just got a brand new ibm T41 today. Followed all the startup instructions (battery inserted properly plugged into mains etc)

But the damn thing wont post, nothing. All that happens is the battery light (green) and a symbol of a Z in a circle (i cant find any info on it through the manuals)

Its been charging for about 2 hours now, should i just wait longer?

the Z means that its getting power and its on IIRC, you SHOULD wait for the batt to be completely charged before you turn it on, but try checking the RAM and making sure it accidently didnt get unseated during shipping, its probably the mem under the keyboard, there are 4 holes on the bottom with a keyboard picture next to them, remove those 4 screws and take the keyboard off, youll see the RAM in the top left i believe, just make sure its all the way in

Exchange it simple. No sense in fucking around with a brand new machine that isnt working. You dont want to do something that will void the warranty and then they dont exchange it at all.
