PDF to TXT

I'm having problems finding a way to get from one to the other in OS X.

Is there a fairly easy method for doing this conversion?

Open a text editor.

In Adobe Reader, click the "Select Text" button on the top. Highlight what you want. If you want everything, just right-click while using the "Hand Tool," and choose "Select All."

Copy, then paste into the text editor.

see if you can get pdf2html, and then if you need it stripped down even further see if you can get html2txt... but I guess those might not be compatible with os x.. oh well.

Yeah, the only problem with the 'cut and paste' answers is that it's a 110 page screenplay that's in proper format. Cutting, and pasting fouls up the format.

I really don't like the PDF format anymore. I wish everyone would use HTML or something, instead.

But yeah, you should be able to simply highlight the text and paste it into a text editor. Having a mac may or may not make this process more difficult, I would have no clue.

The rub is that I can't seem to transfer any of the shit from point A to point B in proper format.

Luckily, I'll circumvent the whole problem by using PDF to Text on a PC.

But, hey, my powerbook sure looks nice.

With almost any format conversion, something's gotta give. Usually, formatting is the thing that gets messed up in text to text conversions.

i love pdf. it feels more like a book and pleasing to read. you try to get manuals for math or thesis papers or forms in html that look half as nice. to each his own i guess

no clue = stfu, OSX uses pdf to render stuff onscreen, it can manipulate pdfs in a way unimaginable in windows
