I need a camera that takes good pictures of birds and other nature type shit for the pops. Figure something around $800 but nothing too complex he isn't great with technology.

Any ideas people?

I think I pretty much have decided on waiting for a D80. About how much is a "good" price to pay for a brand new D80 (body only)? I see B&H has one for $879, is that on the high end or around the price I'd expect?

So um, I'm in the market for a camera.
Best I can get for $200.
I'm looking for something easy to use, good battery life, plenty of memory. I don't need something with, well, shit on it I'll never use, just something good to take with me to school. Suggestions?

So, if you remember some months ago I was wondering about buying a camera and I am a completely noobie.

I decided to buy a Nikon D80. I am just not sure about the lens...

Should I get a
D-80 Body US$ 950 + a
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO FOR NIKON US$ 430

OR

D80 Kit lens 18-70 for US$ 1.270?

Or

EOS 40D kit com 28-135 US$ 1.650 (THERE IS NO 'ONLY BOD' VERSION WHERE I AM BUYING)

This will be my only lens until I can call myself an amateur. It will be used on the most diverse situations, from sports, scenerys, to portrait photography.
I know it would be better to get two lenses but I dont want risk scratching anything for being too stupid.

Keep in mind I live in Brazil and I cant find anywhere with a tamron for a good price or any other lens.

I have in optins these other sigmas lens:
Lente Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5 DG Macro para Nikon US$ 420
Lente Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 EX DG ASP P/Nikon US$ 440
Lente Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO FOR NIKON US$ 430

I'm pretty new to photography and I was wondering if this would be ideal for me.

In the same boat, looking at the same camera. My point and shoot died, and I've been using a Nikon D70 at work (obviously I don't know how to use many of the features yet!) so I am really starting to fall in love with DSLR. Everyone seems to agree that this is a good starting camera; what about a good multipurpose lens?
