What doctor to see? (foot pain)

I have this pain on my left foot for about 3 months. Im pretty sure the cause of it is from dancing. I was jumping up and down and might have landed improperly on it. Its not a sharp pain. When I apply pressure to the foot, I can feel some pain.

For instance, if I stand on my left foot and I sorta bounce up and down, I can feel the pain.

Im pretty sure the pain is on the top of the foot. There isnt any pain when I walk except if I land hard on it (applying pressure to it).

I didnt go to a doctor initially because I thought it would just heal but now my friends are scaring me. They said it might stay that way because I didnt get it treated early.

Anyways guys, my question is what kind of doctor should I see for this issue?
A podiatrist? or should I go to a general doctor and have him recommend me?

Thanks.

It really depends on your insurance. Some insurances need a referral from your primary care physician in order to pay for a specialist visit, but you'd have to find that out from your insurance company. Definately your first choice should be a podiatrist, however.

General Practitioner. They'll take an X-Ray and see if anything else is needed.

IF your insurance allows it, go straight to a podiatrist without a referral.

This.

I have United and I don't need a referral. I don't even have a primary care physician... I just go straight to specialists.
