Diablo 2

Anyone still play?

My friends and I use to play all the time but haven't in a couple years. We are starting to get back into it though -- it's a bit more logical for the casual RPG'ers like myself whom don't want to pay to play WoW once or twice a week for an hour or so.

I need to get a copy for my wife so that she can play -- she liked WoW, but like me, she felt that paying monthly made playing an obligation just to get 'your money's worth' instead of a joy. We spread ourselves a bit thin on hobbies, so while we really enjoy games like WoW, it is hard to dedicate a proper amount of time to them.

Play Titan Quest or Torchlight instead. Personally, I don't feel that D2 has aged well

well, you're right. between the spambots and the leveling bots, the lack of new levels, and the low level of overall gameplayer maturity, Diablo II got really old around 2002. In 2010 it's simply irrelevant. StarCraft is still vibrant, however.

Right, that had nothing to do with building hype for D3.

As much as I don't like it, this guy is right. Blizzard doesn't care about Diablo 2; why would they, they didn't even make it—the team that made it has been gone for years now. The changes they did with this latest patch were largely just community suggestions to make the game easier, leaving a ton of well-reported core bugs untouched.

---

I still do single player and TCP/IP with a couple others, ever so slowly trying to finish that collection of all sets/uniques in the game. It can be a real grindfest at times!

Name them. You're going off old info. The first few patches on the PTR ignored stuff like Barb Leap Bug, Pally Charge Bug, Aura Stacking, and TPPK. However the final patch, which is the same as the one live right now addressed all of those major issues.

Willowisp damage, mana burn taking up to 256x the intended amount of mana, elemental enchanted monster effect stacking, +% attack rating not working on any amazon bow skills, penetrate and blessed aim overriding each other, monster missiles getting twice their intended attack rating, etc.

These are some of the better-known ones that affect core gameplay from the top of my head; there is a giant list of them maintained on a modding forum, ranging from very major to nitpicks, and this list was definitely presented to Blizzard long before 1.13 was released.

D2 mod which adds a ton of new shit, completely new skills for all classes, it's nearly a different game. Online play is available through Hamachi
