Mortal Online (MMO w/ full PVP/looting using UE3 and with an awesome crafting system)

This is an upcoming MMO I'm really looking forward to. Its using the UE3 engine and is a completely first person mmo (no third person) that has full pvp/looting and many other things I've wanted an mmo to have since the UO days.

The best/easiest thing to do is watch this power point which gives a good overview on the game and features:
http://www.mortalonline.com/files/pr...esentation.rar

BORKED:

A couple of beta previews:
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/1...eview-1-a.html
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/1...eview-2-a.html

Just a few things that make me excited for it:

1. Full pvp/looting
2. Skill based but also heavily player skill based
3. full open world, NO instances
4. Mounts, non-pocketable and fully tamable mounts that can be outfitted with equipment and killed/stolen
5. Full player housing and buildings
6. No global chat/No map or radars/No big glowy name tags.
7. NPC's that behave more realistically and different, NPC's that physicaly attack you (IE pick you up, bash you around) and Legendary npc's that impact the world.
8. Race mixing, IE - you can choose to be a mix of a race and it will affect your appearance and stats.

I don't really want to open up a rar to read. It's a fantasy mmo that's pay to play? Seriously, even if it's the holy grail they have to be insane to try to sell ANOTHER one of these. Sigh.

I love my mother. No, I REALLY love her. In the butt.

sounds like it's for a very small mmo niche.

It's a power point, has pics/few videos showing off some things, etc.

It's not an Elf/Dwarf Fantasy mmo rather more their own fantasy stuff.

One of th e major selling points is ithat your race is not pre defined in the sense that you have to play as "x/y/z" race, rather you can mix races.

You can chooes what mix you want to play as and thi will impact your character both visualy and physically (your stats/etc).

It looks more promising than Darkfall. The online store goes up on 7/13 according to one of the developers. It seems you'll gain beta access upon preorder. I'll probably give that a try unless preorder means pay for the game in full. Here is the video linked above and the updated beta footage combined into one video. Stiler if you want to edit this into your first post I'll remove it from mine.

They are going to have FULL nudity in the game, full complete nudity, no stuck on underwear, etc.

From what I'm seeing now, I'll probably sign up for beta and try it when it comes out.

What? AOC only got an M rating with it's breasts.

Also GTA: Lost and Damned had full frontal male nudity.

Anyone else get the idea this is like Meridian 59 but updated and expanded graphics and locations.. It was one of the first graphical mmorpgs, before eq and ultima online, and was the first mmo that people 'switched' to other new mmo's such as eq and uo, and also the first to experience people 'going back' to the previous mmo's because of the game not meeting up to expectations.

The thing with m59 is, that it was just the same ruleset as this game, and finally a game i want to play. actual risk to playing? count me in. That is the only kind of pvp i like that gets my adrenaline going and makes it a truely amazing experience in a game.

This is a patchwork MMO unfortunately. They've also planned all along to launch it in multiple stages. The initial launch is going to be very barebones with just a portion of the land included and the very basic of gameplay systems.

They are about to ramp up their PVP testing, which has all sorts of issues, most are a result of the poor decision to attempt a multiple hit boxes system. At some point they will need to limit the amount of characters in each area due to this decision. Generally that's done with instancing. Instancing sucks. It's a "solution" for lazy developers, or in this case, developers promising more than they can deliver.

There are a whole slew of issues; the type that are caused by over ambition. Those are the kind that are unable to be fixed. You're not going to hear about them from "beta reports" that the developers have handpicked though.
