Imo the pump is just a fata morgana, you might both hope its gonna fix everything but it wont, the change has to come from her. It can be an enabler, but as you've presented the situation I honestly don't think so. You both sound like you cling to that as your escape/salvation, and I honestly don't think its gonna work out like that.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Your distance comes from protecting yourself and being mad and disappointed in her for what she's doing to herself. It can feel like she's betraying you.. after all, if you were worth being with, wouldn't she lose weight to be with you? Its those kinds of thoughts that tend to really drive people apart beyond just the normal "hey, I'm going to the park to run, do you want to co... oh, wait, guess not".

Ok guys I think I will do is keep my marriage issues in another thread, I want to keep this thread going so i can track my progress. <so no more wife drama here>

Ive started using FitDay this morning, put in the foods ive eaten so far, also I've began to keeps a more detailed excel worksheet to track my daily activities. Also trying to put some good workout routines for me to incorporate. See what you think, and I need some more rountines if you guys have some suggestions. Something I can do without a gym membership.

All I have is 2x40lb free weights, 1 "very heavy" resistance band. Although im thinking of grabbing a few "kettle balls" i seen at target and isnt very expensive.

Are you using the dumbbells to do squats with? That would be a great idea to add resistance.

posting to congratulate you. I wish you the best with the marriage life.

Check this site out. http://crossfit.com/

It's difficult, even for me, however there is a great support system there and there are lots of people trying to get in shape who ask for alternative exercises.

Best of luck!

Good! Hold them at your sides. I think you'll get the best result with that plus less strain on your back.

You can also try goblet squats, which are basically a dumbbell front squat. Here's a quick pic:

like i tell others, you will feel the results before you being to see them. keep at it, i only get weighed at that docs, i wont even buy my own scale, you'll but too much pressure on yourself. just watch what you eat and exercise. Also you need to take it slow your body will take time to adjust, i would have times that i would feel like shit, just horriable, no energy whatsoever .

Took my wife to the docs today, their gonna change her insulin to R500 (doc said is about 5x more concentrated with any of the other stuff which is why is pretty rare), and put her on high blood pressure pills *it was 174/106*.. My wife says her blood pressure is pretty normal and she was just under alot of stress.. She just dont wanna admit she has high blood pressure too..

They are gonna try to get her the pump soon but not now, and see if this new stuff works for her, because it would be the same stuff that would be in the pump that she would use.

I weighed myself while i was there though, and im still the same i was 2weeks ago

I wonder if since im lifting weights too and that would mean that the fat thats being burned off, is equal the the muscle im gaining ?
i did cheat alil bit though. I had 2 hot dogs a few days ago, and a chicken burrto from a restaurant around there (rice, grill chicken, cheese, sour cream, guackamole) a day later and i didn't run at all yesterday.. cold and raining

She's already doing injections? Any idea how many units she does per day (either U100 or 500)?

Generally that means you just didn't lose any weight. Adding muscle mass is not easy, adding a pound or two a month is usually good progress. And that's with eating for muscle gain and a tailored lifting routine.

It's easy to get into the trap of thinking you're adding muscle as fast as you're losing fat, but that's rarely the case. Keep focusing on losing weight, lifting is good, but you're probably going to need to look at your diet a bit more. From what you've posted so far, you might not be eating enough, which will slow down your weight loss eventually. How many calories a day are you getting?

3 i think of what shes doing now. Im not really concerned with gaining muscle as of right now, as for a strength wise im pretty strong imo, but what muscle i do have is covered in fat. from what i put in on that fitDay site, it says in at about 1600 a day,

If your weight stays the same for much longer, you might want to consider eating a little more. 1600 calories is quite low for someone your size, especially if you're exercising. You're actually likely to lose weight faster if you eat a little more, around 2200 calories say.

Theory is basically that if you eat too little, your body thinks it's starving and tries to conserve energy as much as possible. You've got to give your body enough fuel to burn the fat, you know?

Yeah, it's hard dealing with it on the fly all the time, easy to slip up. You can just lay it out yourself, make a list and add all the calories up, then go shopping. Prepare anything you can over the weekend and have it ready. Makes things more manageable.
