Any way to turn boost guage into vacuum?

Like the title says, is there some hack/mod for some/most boost guages to act in reverse as a vacuum guage? (like if you connect the line to it's other side somehow)

I'm guessing no and it's best to just buy a vacuum guage, especially considering the scaling and units :/

ps. i know im a

I think what he means is a boost gauge is normally scaled for both vacuum and boost. I personally have never seen a boost only gauge, one that starts from 0psi or 100kpa.

You might be able to disassemble one, and replace the face with one that reads just vacuum, and then adjust the needle so it rests at the right spot.

Probably easier to just buy a proper vacuum gauge - they're not that expensive.

I just bought a 0-120kPa vacuum gauge for 10 bucks, for a work project. They're dirt cheap.

Don't fuck up the boost gauge you've got, sell it for more than its worth to some kid who'll put it on his N/A civic, and buy a real vacuum gauge.

Lots of people use them especially if staying out of boost is of no concern to them.

This is why you get so much shit.
I think that I have yet to see a factory boost gauge that reads any vacuum. Hell, one of our members (eighteen_psi) has a boost only gauge as an avatar if im not mistaken

No, a boost gauge should not be made into a vacuum gauge. They are generally bourdon tube design, which does work both ways, and you could change the little gear, remove the stop pin, and dick around with it, but I doubt it'll be accurate enough to bother with.

It makes more sense how they work if you remember that there is actually no such thing as vacuum, think of it like this. Take a scale and place 5 pounds on it, and tare it at 5 pounds. Take the 5 pounds off. Now use your hand on the scale. If you hold it at 5 pounds, it reads 0, if you increase, it will increase. If you take away, it will only go so far, and going in that direction is only because of a lack of pressure on the scale. You cannot have infinity vacuum or anything like that. Now armed with that knowledge, you now realize that a pressure only gauge simply has it's low stop mark at atmospheric pressure. So sure, you could take that device to measure pressure that is even lower than atmospheric (vacuum,) but it won't be accurate because the tube wasn't designed to do that, generally. Sometimes you get lucky, and it's just a stop pin, then you'd have to mark it yourself, but with no reference or way to calibrate, it won't mean anything.
