day before beta ended i got to level 10 and was able to try the 123v123 battles...

...awesome! i only played one map (didnt know it was ending that night) and i loved it. there are a ton oh things to destroy on your way to the main base/objective like manned sentry guns, walls, vehicles(how do they work?), etc.

but i really got the whole "im in a huge battle" feeling when you hit select that brings up a big map of the whole battlefield and you can see all the blue dots and red dots (your team and enemy team) running around everywhere from all side of the base. you can run all the way around the base to fight with another platoon or squad if you wanted to.

one thing that was weird were the sounds (guns were pretty quiet), and mediocre graphics. but im a gameplay kinda guy and gameplay and teamwork was nice.

another thing i liked, in sabotage map was when you unlock the last objective you spawn in by parachuting out of a giant transport plane.

im probably going to get it, mainly because im lvl 70 in mw2 and am now bored, and bad company 2 doesnt come out until march :'( so ill need something to hold me over

That's the reason why I'm thinking of getting it. I think Sony has a small window of opportunity here to hook some gamers before BC 2 comes out. I think in order to do that they need to add a lot more maps. Otherwise 3 maps per game type will be very old by March.

I want to get it because I like the gameplay, but I'm like level 10 in modern warfare 1, level 26 in world at war, and haven't picked up MW2

maybe the cooler rewards in mag will make me want to stick to it more?

I went ahead an preordered. It will give me a FPS(grown tired of MW2) to play while waiting for BC 2 to come out.

We need to get a list of people that buy it so we could team up if on the same side. Since this game really rewards teamwork.

BTW I'm probably going SVER.

i was valor in beta, i like them because they looked like the most rugged while still current, unlike the one faction who all looks like they are straight from the game: stalker, haha.

valor weapons were cool, usual us army type weaponry.

what kinds of weapons did the other factions have?

I played valor and I was getting my ass handed to me. I liked the weapons too, standard M4 variants like you said. I just couldn't get any leveling in. Deleted my dude, then made a SVER guy. Those weapons were all AK47/74 variants (lol terrist), but the snipe was a lot better imo. i think it was auto whereas valor was bolt... but i might be wrong. Anyway, jumped on the healing equipment first thing, and leveling isn't a problem. I only wish I knew that you can play larger battles once level 10, otherwise i would have tried harder. valor guy was 4 or 5 and sver i got to 9

can anyone weigh in on what raven's guns were like?

yeah at first i was like wtf this kinda blows, but after you get used to it and reach level 10 its much better. the same maps over and over got old fast, hopefully in the full game there are more for sabotage mode.

i didnt try the healing stuff i went straight into gun upgrades, the reflex sight made it much easier to aim imo. what kind of healing stuff was there? didnt even bother to really look, what was good so i know what to invest in full game?

Can't wait to play this tomorrow. Looks like they did some decent tweaking.

http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/01/mag...vs-final-game/

Quote:
January 26 is just one day away with MAG arriving on store shelves worldwide tomorrow and throughout the week. Before you delve into your first “official” match between Raven, S.V.E.R., and Valor, though, we wanted to make sure that you knew two things:

1. What the differences between the Beta 5.0 and the final version are.
2. How we implemented your feedback from the beta to affect the retail game on day one.

First, let’s talk about the differences between the final game and the beta you tried out a few weeks ago – the most obvious of which is the mode and map count. Whereas before, the Beta version of MAG only offered six maps and two modes, the retail version has a full five modes with 15 maps to play. The final game also includes a handy offline training mode, unique armors, new cinematics, art galleries, trophies, and the always-popular Veteran Mode that lets you start all over again with a permanent XP bonus and the ability to switch your faction after hitting the level cap. Of course, graphical and audio improvements are in there too.

The final game is better than the beta. Believe it.

But our “out of the box” distinctions aren’t all there is to talk about. We’ve also addressed a number of topics that were brought to our attention when you were testing MAG earlier this month, and will deliver them to you the moment you boot MAG up with a small in-game patch (roughly 60-80 MB depending on your region).

Among these upgrades is the oft-asked-for ability to knife an enemy while you’re reloading your weapon — in addition to a pretty significant framerate increase during player-heavy games and noticeable differences in the effectiveness of every weapon and piece of armor. Moreover, we’ve gone back and added all-new light settings for every environment and increased the amount of time you can sprint before getting tired.

For a full catalog of additions, fixes and tweaks, check out our complete list of patch notes below. See you again tomorrow and happy gaming!

MAG Patch v1.01

The latest patch notes can always be found on the official MAG Blog.

Interface
· Fixed bug where incapacitated players’ nametags would occasionally disappear.
· Repositioned onscreen weapons for improved field of view.
· Armory items (facegear/ headgear/ uniforms) reordered.
· Removed helmets from “Loadout 3” for all factions.

Graphics
· Made significant increase in framerate during player-heavy games.
· Changed light settings for all environments.

· Fixed offset muzzle flash effect.
· Tuned camera to shake more realistically when hit by bullets.
· Adjusted “blur” effect for both normal sights and iron sights.
· Added alternate reload animation.
· New “light scatter” treatment for all skies.
· Repaired various “weapon clipping” issues.
· Enacted several particle fogging adjustments.

Audio
· Switched first-person weapon sounds to true stereo.
· Moved first-person character interactions and weapon switches to true stereo.

Been playing the fuck out of MAG for the past week, to the point where I haven't even played Mass Effect 2 very much. It's just an addicted game.

But my complaint about not enough maps still holds true. 15 maps which is 3 maps per mode and that includes the training mode. So 1 map per side for each mode and some maps are close or just larger versions.

I really think Zipper needs to add at least 2 more maps per side per mode(except training). So that's what an extra 24 maps. That shouldn't take to long.

Is it me or does it take so many bullets to kill someone?!

Once I got the grip, now I can kill properly.

My biggest gripe too, just not enough maps. Ive been playing sabotage lately (5% EXP bonus for SVER), and I cant stand the maps anymore. The SVER defense make is a joke its so easy, I've got 28 victories and 2 defeats on that map .
