I lol'd pretty hard, mainly at how convinced the OP is that this will work. If only I had a dime for every brilliant idea that was a "sure thing" just because the creator had been successful in the past... I'm still waiting for Dean Kamen's Segway to change our entire universe as was promised

Some people are too easily convinced by an overly enthusiastic public speaker and lots of technical jargon.

P.S.... Envelope*

I have more to say later. This will do for now: fuck them in the ass HARD for again bitching about used games. The hardon these companies have for "leased intellectual properties" scares the shit out of me.

Just because your life wasn't altered by the segway doesn't mean it wasn't 'life changing'. Least this is better than the Phantom hype.

So they invented a frame buffer. Whee.

This is years away, years and years before the network infrastructure is really there. All of the other issues aside (latency, system requirements etc) it seems pointless. As systems get cheaper and cheaper and more and more power, what's the point of this? Now you're expecting that economies of scale and resource sharing will make this viable?

I doubt it.

You deal with networky stuff, right? 'cause I got a question about bandwidth...

I see Youtube having trouble loading fast enough to let me watch watch their HD vids live. Steam is having a huge sale and downloads are slowish if not impossible because of limited bandwidth.

So, what do you think their solution is for potentially millions of gamers playing for hours on end at a constant 5 Mbps?

edit: this is barely scratching the surface of potential problems on their end.

You're looking at this from a consumer POV. If any of the distributors/developers think that this will catch on, they will be on board for several reason, but the main one being [link to 9million pirated downloads of MW2]. Granted they won't drop d2drive services or actual discs for a while. But something has to come along. ... something

Lol... I'd love to see the look on the faces of all these internet providers faces when people start trying to use all their oversold bandwidth.

They already have trouble enough as it is...

very interesting concept i just want to see actual numbers on subscription fees as they mentioned you can still purchase games... i know in the IT industry the whole cloud computing model is the big buzz word right now. i honestly didnt think it was possible on a gaming level but this opened up my eyes. again id like to see it live and in action on a regular home user to see how it really performs.

Dragon Age is 15 gigs, The Witcher is also 15. To represent the massive strain of bandwidth,.. I still can't start the download for The Witcher, even though I bought it almost 5 days ago.

The presenter is a little too "broseph" for me. Hardcore gamers and their Alienware machines, SICK!... :sigh:
