i also have which you don't need an xfi card dvd burner and 8 fans

edit: Fuck, I did miss his post. My apologies, I think the page break got it. In my defense, the leveling is the only one I see as a concrete difference. Body parts, guns, and post nuclear setting doesn't change gameplay all that much. Zump gave real examples of HOW any of those makes any change.

Saying that VATS and the body parts doesn't change gameplay that much is like saying that HL2's gravity gun didn't do much to change things up. Differences like that show that this game is different from other FPS's and Bethesda's other work.

I saw what you meant about it looking a little like Oblivion in that it zoomed in on the person's face when you met up with them, and it's a first person game. Other than that, you're just being stubborn mang.

VATS - the implementation looked just like how Oblivion played. Whatever changes were made under the hood, I didn't see a lot of differences in the videos, and no one was giving serious examples of HOW that made any changes. I don't read what the publisher writes, since they'll claim it's the second coming like every other game out there - I come here for the undiluted truth.
Body parts- Eh. Can you shoot a person's gun out of their hand? Can you make them fall down with a knee shot? Just saying body part damage doesn't tell me HOW it changes gameplay.

Concrete examples, man!

I'm pretty sure I heard you can do both of those.

yes if you actually looked up or read any info about the game you could find out that you can target the weapon or blow off limbs and cripple people

moderate progress then. I'll still take a wait&acquire and see before blowing money on it though.

Well that's a step forward from "dismiss it entirely before it's even released"

I didn't get to see the bloody mess perk, but Emil (just looked this up, that was the designer guy who we were yacking with while playing) was telling me about how that kind of ratcheted things up to an absurd level.

Dialog options, I do not have detailed impressions. There were a few instances where an option would pop up that indicated that my speech skill was involved, but I'm not sure if that was a persuasion roll or if it popped up because I had the necessary points. I know for sure there is a perk called Lady Killer (Black Widow if you are a female character) that adds different dialog options for opposite gender conversations. Unfortunately I didn't get into that terribly deeply, for those around me found it much more entertaining when I was bludgeoning raiders and putting on their s&m armor.

All I'm saying is that if I pick Bloody Mess, I want to see a Bloody Fucking Mess.

So do I! It wasn't available in the part of the demo I got to play. I'm not sure if it was removed from the demo or if it's something you pick up later.

Also to lopoetve: you can disarm, you can cripple, and the same can happen to you as well. [Raider head crippled] was a common pop-up around the demo stations.

Especially if I plink them in the little toe with a slingshot, they better explode.

Edit: I think it would be great if you had bloody mess, did enough damage to kill someone, then they fell down, stumbled somewhere, and had something fall on them, or a barrel explode... maybe an environmental fatality if you didn't hit them somewhere that makes sense.

I honestly don't care how glorious the gibs are -- well, maybe a little -- but I wasn't looking for it. On the other hand, blowing a dude's balls off would be revolutionary and awesome. Maybe that's for Duke Nukem.

I want to know if they retained the playful tone. The personalities in the five demo videos are pretty downbeat. You know? Every guy says "fuck," just to say it....not because he's Myron.

Rich, contextual background dialogue (see Psychonauts) is probably too much to ask. As long as I don't have to listen to inane every three steps, I'll enjoy it.
