Ammo Shortage

Anyone notice that sites like cheaperthandirt and midwayusa seem to be completely out of stock on most common calibers? The end is near.

Everyone (even non-gun nuts) are buying it up as soon as it hits shelves. Last time I bought ammo right after I swapped my card someone came up and asked "Got any .45?"....He angrily stared at my 5 new boxes and walked off.

Ive got a sporting goods store nearby and a walmart with a good selection of ammo, i can always find at least 100 rounds of .223, but the price is $22 for a box of 20.

Today i got lucky and picked up 4 boxes of 20 rounds for $12.99 each

Which is why I love my .22lr conversion, i picked up a box of Federal .22LR JHP for $20, thats 525 rounds for $20.

I've been stocking up. Currently, I have about 2.5k rounds of 9mm, 3k rounds of 7.62x39, 2k of .223. Then around 300 of .38 spl/.357. Still not enough.

Must get more...

Are you buying that for survival/doomsday or because of the coming tax hike? I'm stockpiling for doomsday.

Cabelas has been pretty reliable for me. They are backordered on a lot of stuff but they get it in and ship it out pretty quickly. They are also giving away free dry storage boxes with bulk ammo orders.

This has been going on for awhile now. I stocked up some time ago. Thought it would blow over.

Can't believe I would have a hard time getting Winchester Super-X 12ga 2 3/4 00 buck 9 pellet. I found "buffered" versions but have no idea what that is all about.

I look at it as an investment while also for survival if needed be, but I don't think it would happen (maybe, who knows). Prices continue to go up over the past 10 to 15 years. They will continue to go up. Therefore, if I was ever in a cash bind, I could easy sell any of it to make some money. I have calibers that are always in demand.

Even if I'm wrong about either of these theories, I have a shitload of ammo to shoot.

Also, if you think I have a lot, you haven't seen anything. People on AR-15 think I have nothing compared to others. I'm talking about a stockpile of 30 to 50k rounds of ammo.
