Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I thought I had gotten rid of it by going into safe mode, killing the running processes and running malwarebytes and another program. It ran flawlessly until last night when the same shit kept popping up again.

I tried booting in safe mode, but now it won't get past the IMI initialization or whatever, I'll clarify that tomorrow. Hopefully nothing is too fucked up to fix.

the gnu license doesn't really allow you to charge for software, only for "documentation" too...

Did you try running TDSSKiller?

Also, if you have another computer you can use, pull the infected harddrive out of the computer, put into the known working/clean computer, run all of the online antivirus scans and see what comes up: eSet scanner, Trendmicro Housecall, BitDefender, etc. Most likely you have an infected MBR as I mentioned before.

this

I honestly don't even waste time trying to clean viriiiii off running system. slave the drive to something else and clean it that way, it's always much much faster and more effective.

i wouldn't advise that either, some of this malware is so intelligent not only can it spread via a secondary drive but it can also spread via LAN and flash drive.

i'd keep it isolated. try manually deleting all of the registry entries if you know the name of the particular malware. usually this is the best way to do it.

at one point i had a malware infection so bad that it even ran in safe mode.

i cleansed it from the registry, then ran a variety of scans, and it was gone permanently.

Do you have the latest service pack for Vista installed? I had some nasties on an older comp of mine and updated from Win XP SP2 to SP3 and it totally cleaned that shit out, was amaaaazing...had browser redirects and slowdowns and the csrss.exe or whatever nonsense, Windows Update just slayed that shit - after Spybot couldn't.

Edit: i think it was actually stopping Spybot from updating correctly, like Spybot went through the motions and looked like it updated but actually didn't, quite an intelligent assortment of malware I had breeding on there...
