Intermittent Fasting- Or how I learned to stop worrying and love Vendetta the lab rat

In response to this thread,
http://www.genmay.com/showthread.php?t=811257

and research such that is critically reviewed here on multi-day eating schedules, IF schedules, and training,
http://www.alanaragon.com/an-objecti...t-fasting.html

I have decided to treat myself as my own lab rat and experiment with intermittent fasting. There is conflicting research on the fundamental effects of BOTH multi-day eating and Intermittent fasting, so I figured I would give the latter a try. I have used the former to great success (4 bodybuilding competitions) and the results are undeniable.

I will use this thread to document my progress and responses to IF. I must emphasize this is NOT something I recommend newcomers just try for kicks. I have been training for a decade and a personal trainer for nearly that long. I am an amateur competitive bodybuilder and am incredibly active.

I have adopted the 18 hour fast, 6 hour eating window IF schedule. I will be breaking the IF on the weekends if I must, but otherwise it is regimented. My eating window is 4 pm to 10 pm. My active day is usually 9 am to 2 am, so this schedule is acceptable.

Day 1:
Today I did not expect many pangs of excruciating hunger. I had to get by the typical response of "morning hunger", which passed quickly. I had a nagging craving in the back of my head throughout the day, mostly as a certain reaction to the fact that I SHOULD be eating, but have not. As I approached the 4PM eating schedule though, I did start to get very hungry.

I trained today at night within the eating block, I did not notice any drop in energy. This may change when I train tomorrow morning, fresh off a 12 hour fast.

Onto what I ate,
4PM: Plate of green beans and peppers; one piece of whole wheat bread with natural peanut butter, and a plate of bacon (mmmm...bacon...)
6PM: Protein shake, Optimum Nutrition, 45 grams
7PM: 1/2 cup brown rice (steamed), 3 pieces of pork tenderloin
8PM: 2 pieces of sugar free pumpkin bread (whole wheat flour)
9PM: Protein shake, Optimum Nutrition, 45 grams, 5 grams BCAA powder, 10 grams glutamine
10PM: Banana

I'll post any updates if I start going crazy, and update this as often as I can.

Starting Statistics:
I have very recently come off a bulking phase and have been cutting on and off for a month, nothing too drastic. I've set my sights on a September bodybuilding show.

Current Stats:
Weight: 206 pounds
Height: 6'2
Bodyfat: Probably about 11 percent. My usual level is 6, contest is even lower.

I do this practically every day without wanting to. I'm never hungry in the morning, and always too late to eat lunch before going to class (class finishes at 4 or 7 3 times a week, and the other two days I eat late anyways)

Maybe I should start training hardcore again (and eating healthy) so it actually makes a difference

i'm very much interested in the research. I'm a new biology major but nutrition related information always has my eye.

Who was that major body builder who only ate 2 times a day... like 10am and 5pm...
