a) stop being condescending
b) by magic someone who was good/decent with money suddenly becomes a money-retard? I doubt that. My gf is smart about her money and I trust myself to be a good enough judge of character that this isn't a ploy or a facade. We share our income and I really doubt she suddenly will become a lazy bum who can't handle money worth shit, and suddenly just leeches all my money.

Not saying it never happens, but if your wife suddenly turns into a money grubbing whore, there prolly were some indications along the way.

well she get's like 3K a month. That's for the groceries and clothes and whatnot. I think it's actually for tax purposes (my dad is a CA) so this way my mom "works" for my dad

Don't they have to pay more taxes if she gets a "salary"?

I'm not totally sure. I'm not the accountant. I think maybe he actually pays her since he is a part owner of the CA firm so i think by doing this he stays just below the next tax bracket. I dunno though.

Perhaps teach her how to manage money properly? You two should have a clear understanding of your budget and what you can spend money on. She should know what the necessitites are so that any big purchases are discussed before they happen. Sharing a bank account is actually easier for me and my wife. We both discuss everything we spend money on that isn't a necessity. If she goes out and buys groceries she doesn't have to tell me about it, but she does have to make sure our current bank balance is correct and we have enough money before actually spending the money.

Sadly they don't teach these things in school, you just have to learn it on your own.
