You want Arizona, Texas, Vermont, and Alaska. Those are probably the four most gun friendly states. In Texas the Dallas Ft. Worth area has a ton of gun ranges with rentals. One place I know of even rents out fully automatic weapons.

That's what they do in the Old World.

BTW, where are you from OP? I'm pretty sure Arrakis isn't part of Europe.

Why, Guidi Prime of course

On Old Terra they would call it the Netherlands though.

I was thinking of Texas aswell, I will look into ranges and training courses.

Thanks for the many suggestions so far.

any state with a rural town or two usually is pretty open about shooting, with a few exceptions. Bottom line, like others have said, if you want to try full auto toys, go to Las Vegas, otherwise, almost any state in the union except for some New England states perhaps, have opportunities to visit and rent firearms, and shoot them. Some ranges rent pistols only, some rifles only, some both, some don't rent at all.

My suggestion:

Plan your trip, and list any and all states you plan on visiting.
Go online, post here, or whatever, and find ranges near anywhere you will be passing through.

most good ranges have websites with information to describe what services they offer, what they rent, restrictions, rules, etc.

VERY IMPORTANT:
If you have never fired a gun before, tell the range officer this, and ask him to show you how to safely operate the weapon, and to go over the range rules. Dont assume you know what your doing, it will become evident to the RO if you dont, and will probably get you kicked out if you do anything unsafe.

I have made up my mind, the tickets are booked.

I will go to Texas, I will start in Dallas and will be looking for ranges and courses in the region.
I am looking forward to it and was thinking of enlisting in some advanced pistol and rifle courses.
I am experienced with firearms but I won't be bringing any along, so all stuff will be rental.

My shooting instructor recently went to some SIG factory course, so something like that (preferably H&K) is high on the list.

So thanks for all the great reccomendations so far, I will sort them out soon.
