I've been using hostgator and nothing really seems to happen ever. It just works and isn't terribly expensive. It's not unlimited, but I don't need that anyway.

can you contact him and let him know his footer links aren't working which includes his contact page. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

But agreed, if you MUST have some variety of uptime guarantee, cheaping out by using a shared hosting provider isn't what serious webmasters are going to want anyway...Either VPS or dedicated hosting is going to be a requirement.

They've been "unlimited" for a while. I use my space to host Top Gear every week and it gets hammered. No complaints.

My guess, is that they aren't likely to hassle you about bandwidth so much, unless you're pegging the server/network 100% 24/7.

However, the question comes in, is the activity using much CPU/memory, for extended periods? Then, that could signal some hassle.

Just switched to fatcow.com for 25+ company domain names. All the reviews are positive and it's nice actually talking to American tech support with basically 0 hold time.

Minor bump, I think I'm going to stick with host gator after looking at the comparisons.

Where did you see they do that?

The enforced password change recently was because they compared hashes, not actual passwords

I use GoDaddy at 6.99/m for 150GB disk space, 1.5TB monthly transfer, etc on a Linux box. So far Ive had zero complaints and transferred a couple hundred gigs of Top Gear during the season.

I think HG right now has a lot of coupon codes being thrown out. Not really sure though which is the best one since a lot of people are giving this away upon sign up.
