First Credit Card (This time for real)

I started my job finally and will start traveling in December. I decided to wait until I started my job to apply because I thought I would get denied. I have no credit history whatsoever but have been perfect banking wise with SunTrust. My job allows me to book my travel myself and then have them reimburse me twice a month, thus allowing me to rack up points and miles. Right now, I am trying to find a card that will allow me the most benefits while having no fees or a chance of denying me. I always thought Discover was where it was at but I wanted to make sure before I apply. My plan is to apply for one now and if I get denied, to just get one with my bank to rack up credit in the meantime before I can get a real card. I tried doing research but I get confused with all the different terms. All help is appreciated in advance!

EDIT: Just realized this is in , can it be moved to Everyday Life? Sorry!

Only twice a month? Damn as long as I have the report in by Monday, then the money will be in my account by Wednesday. If you are going to this route, use AMEX

Yeah, 15th and 30th but I don't see it ever being a problem if I have a credit card. I don't want to pay annual fees because I really don't see the point of them. Is that ignorant? Are there comparable cards with no points?

I feel like the Discover More card has the most benefits with no annual fees and most likely to actually accept me with no credit.

Yea, well unless you're getting the money upfront don't extend credit to a company. When they go under, you'll be left holding a large bill for expenses.

Make them give you a company card if the want you to travel.

No way - if you use your own card you get to keep all the points or miles you generate.

Yes, but you'll loose them all when the company decides not to pay and go bankrupt. I've had it happen to me.

I was expecting a payroll check (5k), and another 5.5k in expenses. I got a bankruptcy notice instead. Between this, the vacation days, 2 weeks contract stipulated notice, and that I found out the last 2 months of checks were just the amount after taxes/ins, but no taxes paid, they were into me for about 21k.

Don't get fucked, demand your money upfront.

If they are big, they have money to pay you upfront.

Jesus Christ just get a Suntrust Visa Credit Card and stop wasting your time.

They gave me one with a $500 limit when I was like 18 and no credit history at all. I've been using the same card and still am, Now I'm a Platinum Card Member and have a $8,000 limit.

The rewards seriously arn't that great after you read the fine print. They're all pretty much the same.

Discover sucks though because a lot of places don't take them.
