Does spotting on birth control pills make it less effective? I take the pills at EXACTLY the same time each day (as in my alarm on my cell goes off and my roommate and I both take our pills so there is no way we ever forget) but once in awhile I'll randomly spot. Does that make it any less effective?

I know that some BC is more likely to cause spotting than others - I've never read anything that suggests spotting is linked to reduced efficacy. I think you're okay

well lsat night my gf and i were having sex. and it was only like the 3rd time ive ever. i dont know about her. and i had put the condom on, and ive never really put a condom on in a serious way so i didnt know really how to do it. only read about it online, i pinched the tip and rolled down using my fingers as a ring to keep air out, but at some point i think i lost my grip on the pinch or something but whatever.

we had sex, i came, i stayed inside her for less than a minute before i pulled out, and we were sitting for a few minutes with my penis right near her vagina until she said she felt something 'dripping' and i hadnt taken the condom off yet so i thought maybe it had dripped out the base end which seems really unlikely and since there was a wet spot on the blanket we were on i just assumed it was her dripping because shes gotten her stuff on my clothes and stuff before.

so my question is... assuming there is some kind of condom failure, how obvious is it? for example, if the condom had leaked semen out the back, would either of us be able to tell?

If it breaks...it breaks. Like wide open. I'd compare it to a balloon popping; a small tear becomes a large tear very quickly. As for leaking out the back - it is possible but shouldn't happen if you've got the right size and are using it correctly. It sounds like you pinched a reservoir so unless the condom was far too large or you went very soft in it before taking it off, it shouldn't be an issue. The wetness was probably from her.

If you fully came inside her she would know cuz she'd be leaking A LOT not just the little bit that is normal after she cums.

oh
my
god.

i dont think she realizes how NOT FUNNY shes being, but she keeps making pregnancy jokes. AND shes officially "late". she said she was supposed to have her period earlier this week, although she is definitely VERY irregular (one time she had one, then literally a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks later, she had it again).

the condom looked fine

oh well, i was like, %100 sure that nothing happened and it was just her 'leaking'. fuck.

Alright now I'm kinda scared. I recently had sex for the first time, with a condom. I lasted about 30 seconds lol. I pulled out too. I believe I used the condom correctly, except I didnt pinch the tip, i just rolled it down, but there was still a recevoir. We also had sex 4 days before her period.

Now shes late 4 days. She's been sick, and she says she's got some of the symptoms of her period (they also happen to be the symptoms for pregnancy, like sensative breast and tired), and shes very irregular, sometimes even skipping periods. But I'm still scared as hell. Idk how it would be possible, i mean a condom and pulling out is more than most of friends do. She's cool with an abortion, but I'd rather not have that blood on my hands for the rest of my life.

How possible is it that shes pregnant?

If the condom did not break and you put it on before you first penetrated her, then you don't have a lot to worry about. She is irregular, like you said, and she's been sick, which can screw with the timing. If you are still worried, wait about two weeks from the day you had sex and have her take a pregnancy test. But if the above is true (the very important part being the non-broken condom) then you don't have a lot to worry about.

I dont think there were holes, it didnt break to a very visible level if it did. I mean, after i pulled out, then i came, i squeezed it all the way down to the tip, and nothing came squirting out.

If it breaks, it breaks. Like completely, like a balloon popping.

Well it definately didnt do that. It was a trojan latex lubricated condom, and she was real wet, so there wasnt much friction, if that matters.

It was her first time too. Would that affect her cycle in any way?

The physical act - probably not. But stress related to it being her first time, etc could be.

Bottom line is that sperm have to be deposited in the female reproductive tract for a pregnancy to occur. If you were covered the entire time you were in, the condom didn't break, and it didn't accidently leak on her while you were taking it off then you should be fine.

See if she will look into birth control for an extra degree of safety.

Ok she just took a test, its negative. Since this is only a week after the deed, I'm still kinda skeptical, but I'm more at ease. Arjuna, thanks a lot for your advice man, it really helped keep me calm lol.

NP, you'll learn when to really worry. It isn't the worst thing in the world to have a scare (or what you think is a scare) early on so you figure out how it all really works.

As for the pregnancy test: giving it a shot a week after you had sex is a little premature. Tests vary in precision; the most sensitive tests can pick up a pregnancy at 7-10 days but most tests need about two weeks to detect pregnancy. So if you are still worried, have her take another in a week to be sure.
