I'd imagine he's just stating that you don't need a refrigerator. I've never used one either, although we do have one here.

Here's a recipe for chili that works well for lunches:

1 - 1.5 lbs. coarse ground beef. You can use regular ground beef too, but the coarsely ground works better.
2 cans of red kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 can whole or diced tomatoes - the big size, 20 to 30oz I think.
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 large onion
1 can of diced green chilies
1 T. olive oil
Salt, chili powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, to taste.

Chop the onion, and in a large pot (8ish quarts, at least), heat with the olive oil until translucent.

Add the beef, and cook until it's browned. If you want it super lean, brown the beef in a skillet, and drain the fat off before adding it to the pot with the onions.

Add the garlic, cans of beans and tomatoes, with the liquid, and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat.

Simmer it for an hour or so, and then add the pepper and salt, and the can of chiles.

Simmer it for another half hour or so.

You can then have this for dinner that night with tortilla chips and sour cream/cheese. The traditional way to serve chili is actually over pasta, like spaghetti, or with rice, both of which you can prepare ahead of time and take with you to work. This would easily last me more than a week, but I never need to take dinner to work.

Thanks for your reply

Put more cheese in the sandwich and it will be more filling. Also a lunch isn't supposed to put you into a food coma.

what's the reasoning behind the cheese? I would have thought that the fiber from the multigrain bread, onions, spinach and other veggies would likely be the most filling components, but idk.

As for the food coma, obviously, to tell you the God's honest as long as I don't eat anything with white flour or sugar I don't get any slow down with anything I eat.

Usually dense cheeses will fill me up. Also maybe making sandwiches with a nice italian loaf instead of pre sliced? The extra bread should help plus it'd be more tasty.

Are you using whole-wheat bread? White bread is the devil.

multigrain (as in 12+ grain) bread I can do, white (even italian) bread usually makes me crash.
Sometimes I'll eat whole-wheat instead of multigrain, usually reserved for breakfast and stuffs

jesus, walk into a grocery store and acquaint yourself with the myriad of canned and packaged meats and foods

good lord it isn't that difficult

tuna, chicken breast, turkey and more are available in cans and packets. There's a million things that come in cans- soups, stews, vegetable medleys and everything else. There are fridge-less premade meals (dinty moore and others)

are you one of those guys that goes to your mom's house on the weekends with a basket of clothes because you don't know how to wash them yourself?

fuck
