For you breadmakers

http://www.cookingbread.com/classes/...ato_bread.html

Just got out of the oven and one loaf is already gone. I will be making this again. and again and again and again! Next time I will double the recipe though. Need more of this than what you get from a single batch

Oh, and I didn't have cracked wheat so I substituted quinoa there and it worked fine

How do you move it from the parchment paper to the pan - won't it all just lose shape?

How can you test to see if it is done by knocking the bottom of the bread while it is 440 degrees?

Why not add some garlic, too?

I do neither #1 or #2. I put the parchment paper on the baking sheet and put the dough right on the paper and bake it like that. The parchment paper normally makes it 2-3 bakings before it needs to be thrown out

I don't do the knocking on it thing. I never could hear that right. I stick a thermometer into it and when it reads 200 degrees internal temp it's done.

I may try the garlic next time but, as is, it is delicious. The quantities listed in the recipe seem exactly perfect

interesting, i just made some no-work (knead) bread

http://markbittman.com/12-days-of-ht...-no-work-bread

the crust came out perfectly and the crumb was airy as the recipe promised. the thing is it's probably the plainest bread i've ever tasted, almost like matzo. i might try sourdough next time.

I made our 3 loaves of Italian bread as well as the onion potato bread. Every Saturday or Sunday I make the Italian bread. 3 loaves is just about right to get our family through the week. Probably going to get up to 4 loaves in the next couple of months. Ingredient cost and electricity cost totals about $1.25 for 3 loaves of bread that are 1000000x better than the stuff in the store.

Here's the bread we use for our daily stuff. Can't have hard crispy crust on PBJ's. Kids don't like that very much so we use this since the crusts are nice and easy to slice.

I love the smell, look, taste, and feel of making/baking bread.
