Just got to thinking about this in another thread about the BOB, I live in Las Vegas..

I am 300 miles from anywhere that is rationally habitable just wondering you guys take on this since most of you live in area's with plant life and such just wondering, discuss!

Vegas is an artificial city. Consider this; Yucca mountain was chosen because it was so remote and so dry that nuclear waste wouldn't ever percolate into the water table. unless you live right next to the Colorado and by the head waters you are screwed. The carrying capacity of the land is already shot and scientists now know that this century was the third wettest in the last several thousands of years. Remember there's a reason the federal government still own 80% of your state. Nevada is near the bottom of my list of habitable places - even in good years.

That sounds like seriously tough going, especially without supplies and on foot. I would think vegas would end up like another metropolitan area and eating themselves alive until there is nothing left, only it's much hotter than usual.

But hey, at least it's a dry heat.

I'd hit up some strip buffet and grab all the food and bottled water I could while everyone else is shitting their pants and then find a working car I could appropriate and GTFO of there ASAP.

use an arrhythmic gait, shuffling your feet to produce natural sounds of the desert. If you walk normally out in the open bled, shai'hulud will surely be aware of your presence, and the great maker will rise out of the sand and swallow you whole.

water-fat offworld trash.

edit: all I kno about the desert is that barrel cacti have some water. Rest in any shade during the day and travel at night if possible.

edit2: and bear grylz pees into his shirt and wraps it around his head for its cooling effects.

lol cactus cannot survive out here seriously we are on the cusp of death valley no cactus and no shade either, I always keep water in my car and if something was to happen I would just get the fuck out, I have a large wagon with a roof rack so I can store 100 gallons easily in my car of whatever liquid and some on top, and if I needed to could tow a trailer to get me to the optimal living area NW oregon or washington.

Oh yeah vegas is fucked if anything goes down worst part is, the traffic on a normal weekend traffic is 20-25 going to CA from vegas just imagine a bad situation we only have 2 ways into the city.

Head to Lake Las Vegas- plenty of food in the trash cans and all the fresh water you can drink (after boiling of course). Then hitchhike to L.A. to join our commune.
