I'm with RY on the "no chain restaurants" thing. Portland has some amazing local style, I think we owe it to ourselves to explore that.

Paddy's Kitchen downtown is a nice joint with some great outdoor seating that is never too busy. Henry's is good too. The Doug Fir would be cool, but it's pretty damn hipster so I don't know how that goes with this crowd. Probably better to cater to more universal tastes.

Like I've said before, if I don't end up at Mary's Club or Union Jacks with a some Genmay people this meet is a complete failure.

If doable, some sort of hike on Sunday could be badass. Car situation might be tough, but there are a ton of good local hikes.

I also intend to make some sort of after party happen. I'd love to get chill with some of you people, especially the ones that actually live in Portland like myself!

if you guys arent in the mood to do the beer drinking, pool playing, bar thing with burgers and all that, we could go to this place called the pied cow. It's basically a 21+ wine, cheese and hookah place. It's at one of those bohemain houses downtown, so you sit in one of those neigborhoods smoking hookah, drinking wine and eating wine foods

im fine with the more normal bar thing as well. Just thought Id throw that out there

i dont think being late would really contribute the oddity of that situation

I could be perfectly on time, even early, and it'd be just as odd

I'm not interesting in smoking activities, I prefer breathing clean air

True, but then we would need to surreptitiously plan to meet earlier and slip into costume to pull off the effect.

Thirded. Rock Bottom is nice, but it's also a chain. I think it would be fun to go somewhere uniquely Portland.

And I would LOVE a hike.

I think hookah lounges can be really fun. Much more relaxed and often less noisy than a regular bar.

++, cosign for the hookah lounge. It's not like there's a lot of smoke free-floating in the air or anything, especially if it's outside.

rock bottom is fucking generic

gotta go to somewhere that is uniquely portland - any mcmens is good, the bigger ones would be better for any appreciable crowd - I still remember that one bar at kennedy school so many terrible jokes

bridgeport brewery is nice, rogue brewery is cool - they deal better with bigger groups
