do not, I repeat DO NOT get a Glock with a ported barrel.

A friend of mine has one, and 1: it doesn't help with recoil that much, 2: if you were to fire it off in a parking garage, your car, or even a football stadium you would kill the perp from the muzzle blast before the bullet. Probably the loudest goddamn gun I have ever shot

He "might" be able to find a used one for that price. I bought mine for $599 here in Canada when they first came out, now they're up to $730. For some reason they've become quite expensive. Don't know about the prices in the states though.

I'd recommend one over a glock any day though.

I had the 20C and with full power loads it shot easier than the .40 conversion barrel did that was 1" longer and not compensated.Louder yes,i don't dispute that.
If your most likely gonna be shooting outside in daylight i say go ported,if not get a normal barrel.
If i do decide on the G29 with a .40 conversion it will most definetly be unported on the 10mm barrel, but the .40 ill get it an inch longer and conpensated since it will be a range gun and i hope it would help with that nasty .40 snap.

Why don't you go with the standard carry suggestion? A Glock 19 in a Comptac MTAC holster.

An XD would be a decent choice as well, though I'm not entirely clear why you're so set on .40.

My issue with .40 is the snappy recoil thats harder to overcome than even a .45,it really bends the wrists back.
But if your a big guy or just strong or even just normal the .40 is a better round imo than the nine, its the snappy recoil thats its downfall.
.45's downfall is its capacity, and recoil is between the 9mm and .40 imo also.
Every round has its pluses and minuses, you just need to find the one that fits you best.
I carry a .45 in 2 different main guns, but id carry 10mm also if it was made in more styles of guns.
When in doubt tho go with a 9mm,you can never go wrong with that choice.Unless its a stupidly small cheap gun in 9mm.

You can get .45's as small as many 9mm's these days. And a few nines as small as .380's also. But remember size and weight affect recoil more than the round does.

IIRC The Glock 21 mag holds 13 rounds of .45

Yes,its 13 and 15 for the G20 10mm,thats alot of firepower.
But they are damn large guns also. The OP didnt mention any size restrictions.
Between those 2 guns tho id take the G20 as the 10mm is a much better woods gun especially for penetration if needed, plus a .40 conversion barrel would let it be cheap to plink and train with also.
Dont get me wrong i love the .45,its my main carry gun of choice.
