I stay fairly active though (not excersizing active, just moving about active) so that seems to help. For the most part I dont' bother messing with extended boluses and the like for fatty foods. I don't see that much of a change in my levels really.

I think the way things work for you is more common, needing less insulin in the morning. It's interesting how everything works out differently for different diabetics. I had some clueless endocrinologists trying to force me into a more "conventional" routine and it just fried my control, then everything got fixed when I went to a more flexible doctor.

I used to have trouble at night when I was doing shots, but the pump really helped. My basal is usually around 1.0 U/hour, but now I do 0.60 U/hour from 1 to 4am and I rarely get lows. I've actually somehow trained myself to wake up if my sugar gets low, so I haven't required any external help in years. I'm sure my wife appreciates it.

The only food I end up using extended boluses for is Chinese. Always spikes my sugar an hour or so after eating, but if I do a straight bolus it gets low first.

6:55 am Wake son up, change his diaper, give him a cup of milk.
7:00 am Take a shower
7:15 am Get dressed and play with son until wife is done taking shower (also make lunch at this time)
7:30 am leave for work
7:45 am arrive at work and browse web till 8:00 am

this thread motivated me to open an office 20 minutes away so i can separate home & work

my new routine will probably be as such (has been for the most part)
6:30-7 get up when my son wakes up
~7:15 eat a little while making breakfast for he and my wife
7:30 get dressed/ready while my wife eats
7:45 dress/prepare son for preschool if my wife hasn't already done so
7:45-8 leave to drop him off
8:30 arrive at my office

I have a really hard time with waking up/falling back asleep in the morning, so I have to wake up with several alarms.


6:30am - Alarm
6:45am - Alarm
6:55am - Alarm
7:00am - Alarm, Wake up
7:05am - Shower, Shave, Brush Teeth
7:30am - Get Dressed
7:40am - Grab breakfast from kitchen, grab stuff for class
7:45am - Drive to the bus stop, eat breakfast on the way
8:11am - Catch bus
8:30 - First class of the day

wasting too much time on these. Wake up 5 min?? Takes me 5 seconds to get out of bed. For your strech/workout (aka masturbation session) I do it in 5 min. Come on man...

Anytime I see someone smoking oxycontin, it just pisses me off. Just fucking take it orally already. You're killing your lungs and its oral bioavailability is already up to 87%!
