If you gave me a good deal on it I would scoop it up, if not I am still aiming for a 335i with some Horsepower Freaks goodies on it.

Why would I bother?

It's a federal thing. Cats bother me though. Modern cars do not need them to the extent they have them these days. I feel it's an outdated law from the carbureted days. I believe Mazda is now using cats that have 1/100th the material in them. I've talked to many a person who has passed a sniffer test without cats of any sort with a modern small car. I still run a cat, but the studs on it are kinda fucked up so I cannot get bolts on it. Wasn't my doing, it was ghetto'd together by the dealer when they put in the new motor. For now, I fucking wrapped hose clamps diagonally around the two flanges, and tightened them until the clamps started to tear.

I'll rethread them when I pull the subframe, and probably do a race header when I do a vtec killer setup. Basically, delete VTEC and run only the secondary lobes with an 8500rpm limit.

I am all for cats but I wonder about what you said regarding Mazda especially now that their skyactive engines are putting around.

I wonder if they don't load on the big cats for the idiots who continue to drive while the engine misfires horribly so at least they stand up to the abuse.

Honestly I agree with the right engine design considering direct injection and variable timing I bet you almost eliminate needing one all together on certain cars.

It's funny my county in PA has emission's testing, if I moved 10 miles north I wouldn't though.

I guess pollution doesn't cross county lines.

"The SKYACTIVE-D diesel engine uses the Reverse philosophy to the gas engine, as it has a low (for a diesel) compression ratio of 14:1, making it the lowest compression ratio diesel in the world. It meets new regulations without using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or Nox trap catalytic converter (LNT)."

It all installed yet?

Dyno numbers?

You tuning the tranny too? Forgot if you mentioned that or not.

edit: Also, if it has not been put on your list, a tranny cooler should be in your future......even more so if you do tune the tranny. You're down in FLA too right?

Old system is out, wife was tired of fucking with it or I'd try to finish tonight. We should get it finished up tomorrow morning... Only issue I have is that I believe the driver-side front o2 sensor lead is too short for the new location. Not sure where I can get an extension on the weekend.

Rick C will be performing a full tune, including transmission calibrations.

With aggressive street driving the transmission temperatures never exceed 84*c; if they ever crept past 90*c I'd place more concern on a cooler. Never the less, I'm anticipating higher temps after tuning so I am working on a cooler design that is similar to the GXP assembly, but sits lower for better access to airflow.

I fired up my Civic with just the header and cat on it, sounded like a crotch rocket. It threw misfire codes, though.

I would not run a motor without the header. Seems pretty retarded. Header only is a different story...

Well, I wouldn't run even just a short header. The reason is, even though your motor sucks at one end and blows at another, it still does little sucking action at the other end, kind of like a whore. When cold air hits a hot exhaust valve, it causes heat cycling and ruins the valve.
