Is this a good pellet gun?

Before I post the link let me tell you a few things..

I wouldn't say I'm a novice shooter. My dad gave me first pellet gun when I was around 8-9 and than later on also gave me a bb gun which I used as target practice all the time. Now I haven't really done any major shooting since than (I'm 24 now) but I really want to get back into it. I'm basically looking for a nice pellet gun that can used to shoot small game (squirrels, rabbits, birds etc) but I'm not sure what I should be looking for..

This gun:

Got pretty good reviews, one guy even mentioned that he shot and killed a deer with it in 3 shots.

Any opinons on it?

Also I'm not sure which type of pellets I should buy. I know I need .177 but here are two types, which one should I use for hunting?

1. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...295234.2295237

2. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=2674468

Last;y I'm looking to buy some gun care and came upon this:

Thanks in advance!

Personally, ive never had trouble using pointed pellets. Pick whatever is cheapest or most accurate out of your gun and go with that.

i have a crossman Storm XT and it works great for birds and squirrels. anyone using a pellet rifle to kill a deer however should be punched in the face repeatedly.

the hollow points arent going to mushroom out like a centerfire round. you can achieve the same effect without the recesses and have a more accurate round.

what kind of bird hunting are you planning on doing?

also, always been a big fan of Gamo

http://www.amazon.com/Hunter-3-9X40-...9065696&sr=1-1

More accurate, built better, and will last a lifetime.

1200fps too

Go with a .22 cal pellet gun. The pellets are ~twice as heavy and hit much harder.

If I were in the market for a pellet gun I'd probably look for something like this in .22:

These also look like a lot of fun but will probably end up being too expensive: http://www.fullyautomaticairgun.com/

UPDATE:

Let me tell you what I ended up getting, but before that here's a little story of how it went around.

Well I was waiting for dicks to open up to see if they had the crosman quest 1000 in stock. I call em right at 9am (yes I was that excited lol) and they said they had it. I was at the store within 5 minutes, had to wait for the sales guy to help some stupid lady with a co2 tank (think of me a as a 8 yr old on xmas day), finally when it was my turn I tell em what I want and he's "oh sure, can I see your NJ firearms permit?" I'm like wtf? for an air RIFLE?? And he's like ya I can't sell you one until you have a permit. I seriously couldn't believe it!! I was more sad than pissed cause I had really been lookin forward to owning one all morning. Anyways I go online to try and see where else I can buy one and I find out that they they won't even ship to NJ addresses!!!!! (fuck you nj). So finally I actually go the police station and I'm like ok go I want to apply for one. I ask the attendant how long its gona take and he goes about 4 months (I wanted to shoot myself), I get the paperwork and call my friend whose huge into guns and owns several. He tells me if I really want one that bad I can just cross the river into PA and buy one. They don't ask questions as long as its a long gun (I had no idea about any of the gun laws). So anyways to make a long story shorter I went ahead with the Gamo BIg Cat. They had a cross storm 1000 but as I was reading the reviews a lot of people had neg comments about it. I'm pretty happy with it except for the fact that I could not for the life of me figure out how to put the scope on (had to have my buddy do it). Next goal is to try to zero out the scope which I know will take forever.

Thanks for everyones help

gamo big cat is a great gun. but if you just want something to hunt with(squirrels, pest birds), something dependably accurate, and live in a neighborhood i recommend the crossman 1377c.

I've been looking at the Crosman 1000 as well, and I grew up with a Gamo c02 pellet gun that was 12 shots, shit was hot. Anyhow, haven't made up my mind yet. I want the absolutely most powerful gun with a scope you can get for $150 or so.
