Hi.

Can anyone recommend me a nice camera (preferably one without film, so I can upload them onto the computer) for my Germany backpacking adventure? I don't really understand this 30X zoom, CCD stuff... I just want it take to take decent pictures, I have a budget of a few hundred dollars(200-500AUD).. I'm tossing up between just a small point and shoot camera or a nicer one..

Hey folks, I'm looking for a camera too. I don't mind going a little spendy for quality. I really want optical zoom, and I'd like to take high quality stills and middling to good quality video. I want to be able to choose between viewfinder and lcd screen.

Recommendation

200-300 range (but ill consider cameras well above and below those numbers)
Point and shoot but with manual options (Most shots on auto but when i'm bored...)

selling points in order of importance
Fast focus in bad lighting. I take a lot of party pictures with shitty light and my last camera had like a 15 second auto focus...
Pocket size would be nice
Fast flash recharge.

any info would be great,
thanks

i'm a fullblown fag.

So I have always been interested in photography and would really like to get into taking nice pictures ,

I have a pocket sized 7.1 megapixel camera now thats nice and keep it for work and taking pics of food and shit.

I'm looking at DSLR's , I have a price range of like 300-700 or even more if its REALLY worth it , but a mid priced camera would be better.

I just really need a hobby and this seems like a very relaxing thing to do for me.
if anyone can suggest a pretty simple to use camera that will let me learn about lenses and all that fun shit , I would love to maybe join a photography club and learn more about it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120071

is the one I looked at but really I dont know much about it

What is better than a used 20D? It seems to be the holy grail of sub $1000 cameras on here.

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to get informed.

Are the camera sellers on ebay a good place to buy a digital slr? I found this pyxis camera seller and he has nice packet-sets on canon rebel cameras and lenses. Any catch here that I dont see? Taxes or something else extra cost?

Which one of those would you recommend? I was thinking maybe the eos 400d(xti) with a kit lens and a 75-300 lens would be fine. It should be in the range of 700-1000$. For me they are all worth every dollar because at home they cost way more. Im spending a while in usa and just have to smuggle everything I can back to Finland

I've been looking at picking up a dslr off ebay as a starter camera. I figure it's a good way to figure out the features most important to me without blowing $500+ on something that may not suit me.

So here's my question: are the Nikon D50 and D70 good cameras? Which is better, if either? I'm seeing quite a few of these...either they were very popular and there are a lot on the market, or they really suck and a lot of people are trying to get rid of them.

DSLRs sold on eBay tend to be marked up quite a bit. Go to www.fredmiranda.com if you want to buy good used (and even some new) equipment.

For good new equipment, go to www.bhphotovideo.com

On the first page of the store for that fredmiranda.com, four out of twelve cameras listed, the price shown is "Too low to display". I'm not shopping at a site where I have to click click click click click click click click just to see a few prices. In fact, that site just sucks in general for shopping, even without that.

No he means search the buy and sell forum. People are always trying to sell good stuff. Quite a few people here have picked up used stuff from Fredy's. The store tab is stuff from Amazon.

I owned a d70s for two years and only sold it to get some cash to upgrade. It performs well and is pretty cheap right now, but you might want to get a d80 or d200 if you think you want to grow.
