Gaming going to linux...

So you all knows Valve has stated an intention to make like a linux based steam box...

The thing about this is, I think Valve has more pull in the PC game industry than anyone else. Valve could single-handedly pull the PC gaming world to linux.

And there's no such thing as dual booting...or acquiring an OS you don't have for free.

its significant because it would make linux a major gaming platform and every future game would support it

Ultimately at some point getting rid of the need for windows for gamers...

Steam for linux, not new news, and neither is a dedicated linux box of any sort, lol. I'm a linux guy and hate windows, but even I can see you're trying to start shit. You are such an apple fan- that you'll say anything to cut windows down and push apple products. You don't "NEED" windows for gaming anyways.

Yeah, and Linux gaming was going to take off when id released Quake 3 for Linux back in '99, too. I think that and Heavy Gear 2 were the only noticed Linux games that came from that particular revolution.

I still have the tin box Linux Q3 in my closet somewhere. I wonder if it's worth anything...

Difference between Quake 3 and Steam on linux is that, Quake 3 is one game, Steam is one of the major PC game distribution platforms...
