Sorta realizing, that I MIGHT not exactly be asking in the most proper fashion....

Looking at getting either a used corolla or volt; Sure....Boring. Don't mind getting smoked by ricers, lol.

Volts look pretty nice actually.....Doesn't seem to be a big enough record to say either way whether they're great or assy though.

These seem like a decent starting off point at least? Or even offer up an alternative. (boring, but reliable and not terrible with longterm maintenance, hopefully under $10K)

WELL, there is that.

But since I already have, perhaps moving back to my original question? Thanks.

So I should go with 55,000 $1 Tacomas?

Compared to newer models weaker transmission, significantly less power off the bat, and less amenities.

I've also been pushed away a near universal opinion presented by every person I know who has owned or tracked a GTR: They are fun cars but the novelty quickly wears off and you're left with a car that feels like it's doing most of the driving for you.

That's correct. Check out a used CLS63 AMG for some fun. Or even a C63. Check this one out for 40 grand. If I wasn't hung up on AWD for my next car I'd be all over this ride: http://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w2...-warranty.html

M5 from that era would fit the bill, the last decent M5 really because the V10's and the TT V8's are ticking time bombs
