Diesel-electric-steam hybrid tech for big-rigs: semi relevant to cars

Given the advantages of diesel-electric locomotives, I'm surprised we haven't heard much about hybrids in the truck industry.

-Electric motors make max tq at 0 RPM
-Exhaust has a lot of wasted heat, even with a turbo

Behold the future of moving heavy shit: 15 liter turbo diesel straight six, which captures exhaust heat, and uses a small steam turbine to generate electricity. I think we can expect to find this tech on smaller consumer vehicles as we approach "peak oil" in the future..

It comes down to up front cost versus long-term benefit. For trucks that accrue a million miles this is something that can save quite a bit of money.
