Ch 20 says "You shall not kill" but you said murder can be justified.

Which is it?

It's proper translation from Hebrew is "You shall not murder".

Edit: Yes, according to the New International Version: "13 "You shall not murder. "

That is precisely right. Keep reading, there will be a list of certain crimes/punishments to be followed.

Hmm... Controversy rages.

NIV: "13 "You shall not murder. "
King James Bible: (the older English one): "Thou shalt not kill".

The NIV is a recent version compiled and translated by an enormous amount of scholars from Greek, Armeanian, and Hebrew texts of the Bible. It underwent several revisions for accuracy, and this was done by a commitee from many denominations in order to prevent bias. It is therefore the more accurate and reliable translation.

Look in Exodus for the laws in which Moses is given by God for the people to follow. And they are justified.
Since when is the Old Testament the law of Christians? Are you being intentionally stupid?

Bearing in mind the word "kill" was probably not used in the same way in the 1600's as it is nowadays, I would guess that the KJV is still worth keeping a copy of.
