Mouse Pad/Skates.

I have a Logitech MX Revolution and I am looking to get a high quality hard mouse pad and some high quality skates for some serious precision gaming and aiming for BF 2142 () I would prefer something not much bigger than a standard mouse pad, or a little smaller, as I have very limited space on my desk.

Can anyone please provide any suggestions/comments?

PS: I live in Aussieland, home of the Kangaroo and the Meat Pie.

this is what i have, its pretty sturdy and you can flip it over for a different feel/speed. i dont have skates on my mx revo. you dont have amazon in .au, but keep looking for something by razor, i trust them very much. they didnt have a good wireless mouse when i bought the logitech, maybe the next one will be a razor again.

I don't know why, but I am looking at buying a new Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. I had one years ago back in the days of CS 1.3 and it was the best fucking mouse I have EVER used. Should I get one and box my MX or just stay with what I got? I have money to burn at the moment - on annual leave and not spending much money.

Edit: I simultaneously shit myself and JIMP when I read they were re-releasing the V3 a while ago, was so excited.

As much as the 3.0 is a nice mouse, I'd have to say the Logitech G5 is fantastic and comes with different weights you can put in.

For a pad, look at the Steelseries pads. They are cheap and quite good.

Yeah love my G5 the weights and on the fly DPI adjustments are great, especially for cranking it down low for sniper aiming.

Using an MX Revolution at the moment, don't really want to buy a brand new mouse, other than possibly the V3. I will look into the Steel Series, but can anyone suggest some top quality skates that are suitable for the MX Revolution?

I'm a BF 2142 sniper and I do quite well with the MX Revolution - I'm wondering what it would be like with some great skates and a good pad.

Anyone else find these mouse "enhancements" not that great? IMO it just feels like you're turning up your sensitivity and I end up scrolling past the perfect HS more then actually getting one heh.

I've been using a MX518 with a Funcpad 1030 (rough side) since about a year. It's the best mousing surface I've ever used: very smooth and predictable. Not that I've tried those steelpads or icepads or whatever, but I can attest that it beats the snot out of the Ratpadz I bought way back when they were still cool.

Highly recommended!

edit: I haven't modified my mouse. The feet haven't worn off using the funcpad, and as long as I keep them reasonably clean (just removing the biggest gunk with my fingernails) they work the same every time. The MX518 has pretty small feet that may wear sooner than mice with bigger feet. AFAIK the G5/G7 and other new gaming mice from Logitech all have big feet.

BTW, the best argument for a mousepad is consistency. Having the same feel, same resistance and texture every time helps you to fine-tune your hand-eye coordination.

another vote for func, got one of their alienware-branded 1030s about 4 or 5 years ago, still going strong (using with g5, no wear on the skates at all)
