Freestyle - Don't Stop The Rock
Afrika Bambaataa -Planet Rock
Newcleus: Jam On It
Debbie Deb- When I Hear Music
Debbie Deb- Look Out Weekend
Egyptian Lover
Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait
Dazz Band -Let it Whip
Midnight Star- Freak-A-zoid

I could go on for a while. Early 90's skating rink would fall under "Booty Bass" more than anything. Grab all the 69 Boyz, 95 South, Poison Clan, and 2 Live Crew you can. That will hold you over.

lol, these are the exact songs I used to skate to and for the longest time I listened to freestyle every once in a while in the car. But in the past few years me and all my old friends from the rink started going again, and they play all the same stuff. At first I was all jo-jo for it, and now I could shoot myself if I hear Kathy Dennis or Jam on it. My BF is a DJ and one of the other DJ's that he books gigs with plays all that stuff. UG. He's been spinning the same records since he was 12. Drives me nuts.

What!?

I can not believe that nobody has anything from the following:

Quad City DJs
Ghost Town DJs
69 Boyz

I know this is some more "down south" stuff, but really? Am I the only one who remembers these?

Definitely Deelite.

And merlin, I DJ'd a Booty club in mid Nighties and could throw out 100 songs easy, but skating rink music is technically going to be disco or 80's funk/pop. The 90's was about dance clubs jacking Splack Pack and 2 Live Crew. 95 South and 69 Boyz (same group more or less) all fall into that genre in my mind.

indeed.

One of the best times I remember at puberty was hitting the roller rink and rolling around and around with girls. Most times it was freeskate, but every once and awhile the DJ would call out couples only, and you had to hold hands. The boys would wallflower one side and the girls the opposite wall. Then both boys and girls would peel off in ones and twos, when they swung around they would pick their partner and hold their hand out....and pick up speed. If you weren't furiously pumping your legs for the "merge" you either got your arm yanked out of the socket or you crashed and burned both sides. Most humiliating was to have your hand slip right out because of sweaty palms.

12 yrs old and I had a 16 or 17yr smoking hot big bust brunette snag me for three songs:

Devo's "Whip it"
Hall & Oates "Kiss is on my List"
Queen "Another one bites the Dust"

fun times

Roller rinks in the 90s must of been a area thing. It was huge here... if you were in middle school, you either went skating or bowling it seemed. And hell, I live right down the street from the local rink.

Thanks for the music compilations tho. I secretly love this shit too
