What do you think of the Canon PowerShot A610?

Those cameras are a little out of my range at the moment. I am looking for something to begin to learn photography better, and just play around. The reason I want good macro is cause that is what I find most facisnating about photography, the small details.

I have no idea how good the macro mode on it is, but the A610 is a good camera.

Just bought the A510 today. Expect lots of food pictures to start appearing in H&C.

as a camera salesperson (in an actual camera shop), please don't assume the salesperson is trying to screw you when they mention things you may want to consider.

set a budget with what you're willing to pay, and what you'd like to pay. most customers come in assuming all they need is the camera box. they don't often take consideration of other expenses; such as memory cards, card readers, bags, tripods, filters, printing at home vs. labs, insurance (this does not include best buy's bs warranty program), comfortable strap, additional lenses, etc not everyone needs everything, most are far from it, but if you ask the salesperson if there's anything else you might need, don't get mad when they give you items to consider.

now if the salesperson is a tard like most electronics stores (not all of you, but most circuit city/ best buy/ fry's/ etc) and can only tell you what the box says, and does nothing but suggest the highest megapixel camera they know of in the store, then by all means, choke a bitch.

I just bought an A520 and am impressed with the image quality, features, ease of use...just about everything. The camera, a gig of flash memory (2x512) and 4 NiMH batteries and charger came to ~$250 when buying from Newegg.

Never own a DSLR before.
Cant decide between D300 and D350.
Im thinking about getting a refurbed D300 with kits and lens for about $700.
Is that a good deal?

thats awfully expensive for a used 300D, you can get a new 350D + kit lens for a bit over $800 and used for considerably less (and for the 300D probably ~$500 used with the kit lens if you're lucky)

I went out and bought the EOS 350D Digital Rebel XT. I am quite impressed so far.

i have a used 10d and there is no way i could tell. If they had the file system on continues numbering you would sorta be able to tell. Sometimes you have to just take their word for it.

ps. its a fantastic cam
