Pad wear sensor e46

Just did rotors, pads and sensor on neighbors car but the warning light won't auto-reset like it should after a minute.

Anyone know if its possible to plug it in backwards? I dont think they have polarity, just continuity - the plug goes in with either side up

Everything is done but that... ill go and try again

Don't know if sensors have polarity, my guess is they don't

Is your neighbor a total tard that actually NEEDS to have a sensor on his pads?

If not the easy fix is to cut and solder the leads or otherwise short across the 2 connections. No sensor light ever again.

yeah I suggested it

Anyway it went away after a minute of being in the ON position, but not running

I drove for like 15 mins and it didn't go away, looked it up apparently the engine has to be off

so yeah it went away, all good

yeah it looks pretty much the same but the routing is different, more grommets and attachment points

e46 is pretty easy to work on btw, I'd like to get the e46 M some day

its been like 6+ months since I fucked with my sensors, when I replaced mine I broke both of the new ones, and one of the old ones... I just zip tied em up out of the way.

looks pretty impossible to fuck up

Only one side has the clip, but it goes in either direction (two holes), good picture to show that

yea its front driver rear pass im pretty sure

first old one got turbofucked when I removed it, I wasn't trying to be careful w/ it. new replacement sensor #1 got fucked going in. I threw it aside, plugged in replacement sensor #2 then zip tied it away. (after a lot of rage / shouting)

front DS I just removed carefully then zip tied

I could have actually replaced em when I did pads again more recently but.... I didn't bother.

I think I was just being way too obsessive about not getting jizz onto the pad surface and that made it more difficult to get the sensors in? I don't remember

I always avoid getting grease on the new pads but a finger print here and there never seemed to hurt anything. If they are decently aggressive semi-metalics like OEM bmw pads of these years are, it'll burn off/get scrubbed off within a mile imo

I dont know how much goop you'd need to really set the entire system back for a long time

You're just realizing this?

I wondered if it had any resistance the computer expects to see, guess it would be easy to find out with a dvm. Seems like guys get by shorting it out.
