"In any case, exponents of the killer cat food plan have to convince Oz's Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals that setting hungry ants on defenceless toads is not inhumane. The society declared: "RSPCA Australia recognises that cane toads must be controlled, but urges researchers to concentrate on identifying effective methods that do not cause unnecessary pain or distress."

Which fertilizers are you talking about? A specific one or all of them?

Reality: If you dont take b12 supplements a veggie diet will kill you after ~12 years.

There is no reason that a vegetarian should supplement with B12 if they are OK with similar results to a non-vegetarian. Maybe you were thinking of vegans...

The kind that are full of E coli

NO, the only Natural source of b12 is from animal products or the result of animal products. You can get a very little bit from certain fruits if you grow them in animal shit.

Quite a lot of products are fortified with B12 now But vegs still end up in the hospital in droves each year and they have lots of problems with their babies. Because the baby does not get B1 from mommys milk if mommy dont have much to give.

vegetarians need b12 supplements

A strict vegetarian who consumes no animal products WILL need supplements. and is NOT by definition a vegan. Which is a whole different category of nutjob.

Anyone who eats eggs is not really a vegetarian. They are just pretending. Shall we throw macrobiotics into the mix as well?

No sunshine. A vegetarian diet can be completely free of ANY animal derived product and not be considered Vegan. Vegans are supposed to abstain from the use of ALL animal products which includes clothes. And unless they are drinking it from the cows teats the B12 in dairy has been destroyed. Pasteurization for milk and the cultures used to make yogurt are not B12 friendly.

You wanted to make the distinction thinking you had a clue. Live with it re

So ONCE AGAIN supplements are needed.

What the hell definition of vegetarian are you using Morlock? The usual one is "nothing that kills an animal," not "No animal products whatsoever."

I think he is trying to make some kind of point by insisting that the person he is arguing with use the strictest possible version of vegetarian before it becomes vegan as the operational definition for the discussion. But I have not really been following this one too closely so I could be off.

Technically, being a vegetarian is cheaper than being an omnivore because of inefficient energy transfers. For example, it takes about 10 pounds of corn to produce one pound of beef, and yet you don't get near enough nutrition from beef than you do from the corn.

I can respect vegetarianism from the "living austerely" crowd. But when it comes to the whole "it's cruel to animals" part, it's pretty dumb. We're at the top of the food chain and that means we destroy lesser organisms for our own enjoyment and sustenance.

True.

Yet that doesn't mean that a vegetarian diet has to exclude dairy. Which still leaves you in the wrong.

Sorry fuckface.

I am not aware of any stricture against killing an animal for vegetarianism, since some just eat that way for perceived health reasons and not perceived ethical ones.

The one that shows the ed is clueless about the distinction between vegetarian and vegan.
